Here are just a few pics and comments from the four main matches I saw on Wednesday before it got too dark to think about taking any more photos, since if I don't do anything with them now, I probably never will. I still have a blog from day 2 at Queen's to do too, but that'll have to wait until we have a lean per...
This years schedule is overcrowded. The reason is not Olympic Games as ATP goes on saying. US tournament dates have been moved because of US college basketball !The effect on ATP players was ever so obvious: withdrawals, retirements, injuries. Rome was especially worse.I do not want to see players...
Managed to see a bit of the Junior Exhibition at Wimbledon yesterday - think the girls were 10 and Under. Anyone know who they were and if they are good? They seemed to have good strokes and lovely footwork and looked very enthusiastic
Second match on Centre tomorrow. Bit of a grudge match, as the head-to-head is 1-1, both encounters in Indian Wells. Andy won the first last year in three sets, while Haas won the re-match this year when Andy was still not in the best of form. Gonna be a toughie... -- Edited by Stircrazy at 21:42,...

from a general press assoctiaion article: Lawn Tennis Association chief Roger Draper has confirmed Brad Gilbert is "unlikely" to be replaced by a another high-profile coach when he leaves the British scene at the end of his contract in September. But Draper insists Gilbert, who was ini...
I'm really suprised that we don't seem to have a knowlege of any brits travelling out to the final main tour grass grass court tournament of the season. Last year, there were space in the qualifying draw, there probably will be again this year. I certainly think Chris Eaton should - he'll be able to aff...
So we have two into R2 : Chris Eaton GBR v D Tursonov RUS Andy Murray GBR v X Malisse BEL Can we use this thread to talk up Chris and Andy and then maybe seperate threads for both matches...what do folks think ? Both matches up on Thursday. I really really think we can have two men in R3.
More about the man in a further article in today's Times (+ various colour photos in the print edition, too). I thought it was worth starting a separate thread, as it has some interesting things to say about the...
Elena Baltacha 158 v Zheng Jie (China) 133 Wednesday noon court 2
Anne Keothavong 92 v Venus Williams (US) 7 Thursday
Don't be misled by Zheng Jie's low ranking. She missed much of 2007 through injury, but was top 30 in 2006, reaching the third round at Wimbledon and winning the Doubles Championshi...
A very interesting article, I think - it's from Scotland on Sunday, one of our two national Sunday broadsheets. Tennis is covered well in it. Up and coming: Joanna HendersonEVERYTHING YOU need to know about Joanna Henderson can be deduced from her favourite quote.Golfer Gary Player's famous put-...
Second on Centre, after Anne Keothovong v Venus W. This should be a very different match from the Santoro one and I doubt if it will be as entertaining. Xavier has not had a particularly good year, quarters in Chennai and L16 in Miami but first and second round defeats everywhere else. Play well, Andy,...
I think its pretty decent.....looking ahead... Malisse in round 2 could be quite tricky if the Belgian has a good day.....he loves the grass but did get hammered 2&3 by Hewitt at Queens Should be Haas in round 3, I'd expect him to beat Robredo.....that'll be a hard match but I don't think Haas had a g...

latest headline from the daily mail: I've had enough of all these no-hopers - coach Gilbert quits Britainok makes it look like a quote from Gilbert right, wrong, in fact in the whole arctile (here) they dont have a single quote from him. but they do get a great quote from some called 'A sponsprship' i fin...
