I certainly agree with you, Count, that there are a number of things they could do relatively easily to get more out of the tournaments they do run. And, as with any organisation, they could probably be more efficient in terms of reducing the cost of running tournaments. Achieving both these things would then make running tournaments a more attractive proposition when they come to weigh up their priorities.
btw i met another indian player yestderay, forgot to get his name, but he was older, (maybe mid twenties) and used to play at futures level!
he served around 128!! lucky he barely got any in as he was quite rusty cause they would have hurt me. i couldnt get his 2nd serve back any way. the big thing i noticed was that he could always read where i was going to put the shot and had it covered (this was in doubles)
What's this with loads of Indian players playing at your club?
That's interesting and it seems like he's of a high level! Have you played Futures level players ever before?
yes i dont know why, although its in hyde park and there arnt many places in real central london where you can just turn up and play so that may be why. both of them only seemd to be here for short periods of time too, probabnly if he wantsa decent game he need to try and get over to roehampton, unforunately i forgot to tell him that :(
i hadnt played futures player b4, i have hit with boggo in the past, helped him warm up for a few matches, but that was only gentle rallying and then me feeding him balls for him to have a proper swing at.
Alex did let me try and return a few of his serves too, but to be honest i couldnt really get anywhere near them, if i got my racqut to them they would go miles over the place (lucky no one was on the ajoining courts!) and he was telling me in advance which way he was going to put them too (but i am a bit better now than i was then).

Haha, shows how good you need to be to get to the top 200!
Hoose, I agree with your points and to be honest more money should definitely be spent towards the benefit of the youngsters.
But the thing is, other countries manage to produce equally good young players (if not better) and have tournaments at the same time - all without having 50% of our funds. We leak a lot of money by making pointless appointments like Brad Gilbert. Andy is rich enough to pay for his coach and there wasn't any need to give him money for one.
well i think that apointing BG to start with was a good thing, i belive he certainly helped Andy more than Petch could have. but obviusly the mucked up the terms of the contract, perhaps not having a peroble break clause in there, and 3 years is a hell of a long time in professional sport.
also at the time andy couldnt have afforded him either.
hiever bringing in Annacone, Lundi and Brad al laround the same time certianly was a bit odd nad maybe overkill.

Andy could definitely afford Gilbert as far as I can guess. Doing a bit of research, I find that he had earned like 8 million pounds from off court stuff alone till the end of 2006 according to reports and then there's prize money and more importantly, appearence money.
Brad's current deal is like 500,000 pounds a year and it would probably have been slightly less if he worked for Andy alone. He can spare that much for a coach with the LTA taking care of the lodging and training facilities at the NTC, I'm sure.
The two other British men who slid out of view this week, Alex Bogdanovic and Jamie Baker, have the option of qualifying for the US Open or, as seems more likely, focusing on preparing for Britain's Davis Cup tie against Austria on September 19. That means British interest in the US Open, which takes place at Flushing Meadows in August, will be limited to the women's section. -----------
see how ridiculous they are, suggesting that they miss out on a slam to prepare to play for their country (which offers no thanks if they lose) for a tie that doesnt start untial week after the final!! and by implication suggest murray will not play at the USO either to prepare for the tie!!
what a fool written by Sachin Nakrani who is a trainee sports journalist for the Guardian, specialising in football and cricket.
i think perhas he should stick to what he knows or train harder, cause he just look stupid there. it makes you wonder how hard it is to actaully get into sports journalism.
