Pretty impressive the way he regathered himself after that 2nd set and early troubles in the 3rd. Looking forward to the Gasquet match.

Yes, a really solid match match I thought from Andy, apart from his serve being a bit variable, which as I said I think effected the rest of his game a bit.
Serve was really good in first set, and was coming back again at the end. Haas had really high % first serves in second set.
I think, it's interesting to look at the first service in % stristics, and how the match went :
1st set : Andy 68% Tommy 62% 2nd set : Andy 45% Tommy 82% 3rd set : Andy 46% Tommy 57% 4th set : Andy 64% Tommy 40%
Match : Andy 54% Tommy 62%
It is clear that overall Andy was in charge most of the match, and only dropped the second set, when his serice % dropped and Tommy's was really high. I think both are to some extent confidence players, and that undoubtably has an effect.
I agree that his focus this week has just about been the best I have seen, he's moving well, and looks like a man with a purpose. It will be interesting to watch his temperament if things go badly for him ( I was going to say if and when, but hey...let's be really optimistic ).
So, second week, hope his service, which at times has been working just about as well as I have seen it, is just rather more consistent, and also I so hope that he keeps being positive. It can work, so no Passive Andy, please. Then again, hopefully he knows that he can't just wait for mistakes from the players he has left to face.
Enjoy Sunday, Andy, and on Monday you can beat Gasquet ( who doesn't seem to have been nearly as dominant as in his first two matches )
No, Andy used to be a lot more petulant, screaming and sometimes swearing when he lost points that he should have won. He seems to have improved in that respect, although perhaps that's because pretty much everything has been going his way. I hope it doesn't resurface when he has tougher matches.
Although it has to be said, both Haas and Andy, well known for their behaviour, were excellent yesterday. The umpire must have been dreading the matchup but he would be pleased with the outcome.
Thanks. Yes, I agree that both Haas and Andy were brilliant on court as far as behaviour was concerned (and gamewise, too, as Haas is always a joy to watch).
I think it helps that the two get on well together; they used to practice together in Florida when Andy was with Brad.
I have just read through the thread - thank you, all involved - after waking up from flopping on top of the bed for a few hours after getting back from Wimby at 6am this morning. We had seats on Court 1, but deserted them to go on the Hill to watch Andy on the big screen, so I didn't see any of the Gasquet match. I too have been very impressed with Andy this week, and especially with how he pulled himself together yesterday after seeming to lose his concentration for a while. He was obviously irritated with himself but didn't let it get out of hand, he controlled himself and got on with the job purposefully.
Gasquet will be tough, the H2H is 2-0 in Richard's favour. However if Andy keeps on playing the way he has so far, I am very hopeful.
