It really wasn't a great performance, just lots of big misses. The MP summed it up, Tsurenko kept retrieving and hitting deep. But then a shocker of a miss from Jodie on a ball she should've come in on.
But still, great couple of weeks for her and there aren't any points on offer here anyway. So hopefully she can replicate the rest of the grass season to get closer to the top 100.
Not sure if it was nerves or just that her opponent just kept on getting the ball back with great depth. On the bit I saw Jodie's forehand didn't look secure at all.
I can understand Burrage's frustration, it was because she couldn't see a way to overcome Tsurenko in the rallies. Then again, she didn't try to change tactics during the match, and I think that was a little bit of naivity. Especially as there was the rain-break. Didn't the coaching team have a plan B, Tsurenko had looked rock solid up to that point. As ever, the higher the rankings, and the better quality of the opposition, there is that much more to learn in order to win the important matches. A player can't afford to let 3 or 4 games to slip, without adapting tactical play accordingly.
