Weeks 26 and 27 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - women's singles

Gosh this is a good set of draws. Garcia is in the SF in Germany now but very good chances beyond that. Great for the fans too, can't see too many of these on a stadium court.

Looking at both draws, and without wanting to jinx it, could we get a record number of players into round two?

Very happy with these draws. Definitely hope to see a lot of girls in round 2 and a few beyond

Garcia has just beaten Cornet in a match lasting nearly 3 hours to reach the final in Bad Homburg, and will play Andreescu

Not only is it a good set of draws, but taking the men and women together it may be unique. The chance of 14 non-seeded Brits all avoiding seeds is around 1 in 300 by my rough calculation, and although the number of British non-seeds is often slightly lower, the probability is that this type of draw set will never happen again in the lifetime of anyone on this board

Tennis Abstract forecasts round one wins for Sonay, Harriet, Katie B and Heather.

None of them are forecast to win a second match. Katie B has a 0.3% chance of winning the title; Emma has a 0.1% chance, despite only being roughly a 1/3rd chance of winning her opener.

So, 4 wins in total are forecast in round one in terms of likely winners. But, in actual fact, adding the percentage together gives an overall forecast of 3.6 wins in total in round one.

Ons Jabeur is favourite to win , just, over Iga Swiatek - according to TA.

Hoping Sonay gets the chance to play Iga in R2.

Swiatek confirmed as opening play on Tuesday. Not sure if That helps anyone work out who is playing on their court on the days they are

I dont think TAs ELO algorithm takes that into account!

Well Im on court 1 Tuesday.

I will guess at Berrettini v Garin, Halep v Muchova, Kyriagos v Jubb (hopefully!)

Centre will be Iva, Nadal and Serena probably

It's interesting / brave that the algorithm results are described as 'forecasts' when there inevitably are things not taken into account.
