Yay Emma.

A real shame for Lily who did so well and was two points from victory many times. Unfortunately she played a loose tiebreaker and Garcia ran away with it. But she's very much heading in the right direction, impressive again today.

Never in doubt, over the moon AND I had a fiver on her..... bless . Just a shame Lily didn't make it too, I was following her as well.

Yes, Lily's tiebreaker was a little loose, whereas Caro managed to rein in her faults and play a far more focused one.

As people said, shame. But it was a very good showing.

And doubles to come.

Katie Swan's match has been cancelled.

Impressive game Miyazaki has, moves well, simple clean hitting, uncomplicated serve, not a lot to go wrong. Seems to have toughness too, taking Garcia to a 3rd set TB. Very good performance.

Well done, you smile

I managed a pound...

I thought she was playing some strange tennis, especially in set one (what were all those very heavy topspin forehands about?)

But great to see her get it done, in two, and with no trainer called

I only had a pound as well - the odds weren't great. Not a bad start to her tournament, and played pretty well on the whole once over her early nerves.

Yes CD I was thinking that about the heavy loopy topspin forehand, maybe it was a tactic...?

Well done Emma. First outing on Centre Court and a straights set win. We'll take that.

A pound demonstrated your faith anyway LOL

Yes, some of the first set was almost embarrassing, but then she  relaxed I think, realised she wasn't hurting perhaps, and  got 'in the groove' with the crowd support and her own  intelligent tennis.  So happy for her.

English grass court winners not doing  well  at Wimbledon.  .Haddad and Van Uytvanck both lost which just leaves Eastbourne winner Petra Kvitova  yet to play in the draw. .

Yes, as Tracy Austin (in commentary) put it Emma's preparation consisted of 'thin air' so 6-4, 6-4 will do nicely as she eases her way into the competition.
