I really thought that match had slipped out of Heather's hands. Let's hope she can get the 3rd!!

I know - it's wonderful when there are so many that you can't find them all smile

I just do 'control find' GBR now - I love it when it pops up '9' or however many biggrin

Stuck it out on Ct1 for the 1st set of Heather but went home when she lost the 1st set as I felt that she was either going to lose in 2 or they wouldn't be able to finish the match so why put myself through more torture. I will say that while Harriet gets a lot of grief for her 2nd serve, Heathers is pretty much in the same ballpark but has gone under the radar. At times there was nearly a 40mph difference in speed between 1st and 2nd serve. Also Kerber doesn't have a massive serve, her numbers aren't that far removed from Harriets, maybe an extra 5mph on her 2nd serve but barely in the 70's

I haven't seen Lily before, and was impressed with what I saw of her yesterday. Such a shame she couldn't close it out, but Caorline seemed to raise her level.

I see that Lily's had a few wildcards as a new Brit, and won a few matches against higher ranked players. I'm not sure if that's because she's moving up the rankings, or she's a decent grass player?

Agree with Helen - very impressed by Lily, a really good, solid compact game, and looked fantastic when being aggressive too. She didn't lose it either, Caro played extremely well at 4-5 deuce, and 5-6 deuce. She nailed some very high risk winners at that stage of the match...

Nervy start from Katie S, especially after the little slip on the first point

But think she might have settled down a little now

She got better and better in that set - broke back and then broke to 15 to take the set. Good job!

[WC] Katie Swan GBR 6-4 *0-0 Marta Kostyuk UKR

Broken in the first game but Katie Swan playing a lot better as the set developed, while Marta's level dropped alarmingly. Swan 6-4.
