In the way some regionals seem to attract world ranking points, do junior nationals attract anything?

I'm not exactly a juniors expert but I'm 99%+ sure that the answer is no.

Nottingham, 25k

Given Roach (2005) followed up her excellent QR1 win with another win, and made the main draw, earning her first WTA point, and putting up a very good show against the WTA 349, only losing 4-6 5-7

Hannah Rylatt had at least 4 match points to do the same and qualify, but came up agonisingly short.

Gabia and Jaqui also lost.

However, Jaqui Ogunwale (2005) got a main draw doubles win today (with Anna Popescu)

Henry Searle (2006) also got a win in doubles, with Mike Shaw.

But pride of place today goes to 14 year-old Hannah Klugman (2009) who won her first adult match of her career, beating Eliz Maloney (WTA 394) in three sets, and earning herself 5 points

Only Hannah is left standing, with another super win over a top-400 player.
But Hep put up some decent resistance in set two, and good experience whatever for both her and Mika

R2: KLUGMAN, Hannah (GBR) (born 2009) WC UNR def MARCINKEVICA, Diana (LAT (9) 393 6-3 6-4
R2: BAINS, Naiktha (GBR) (6) 338 def STOJSAVLJEVIC, Mika (GBR) (born 2008) WC UNR 6-1 6-1
R2: OLUWADARE, Hephzibah (GBR) (born 2007) WC UNR lost to RODIONOVA, Arina (AUS) (5) 299 1-6 3-6

Hannah than lost by a whisker, in a third-set TB, to Katy Dunne

The main story in juniors playing up this week is that Ranah and Talia both made the QFs, played each other, and Ranah came out on top, in three sets

QF: STOIBER, Ranah Akut (GBR) (8) 865/1078 def NEILSON GATENBY, Talia (GBR) (4) 714/505 6-7(4) 6-4 6-3

Ranah then got a W/O into the final but lost 6-0 6-3 to Yufei Ren

Congrats to 17 year-old Aryana Bartlett (born Sept. 2005) who has come through qualis in two 25k events this month and has now got herself a WTA singles ranking of WTA 1299

That makes 5 juniors with singles rankings (as Mimi has dropped out):

706 - Talia Neilson Gatenby ('05)
776 - Ranah Stoiber ('05)
852 - Isabelle Lacy ('06)
1060 - Ella McDonald ('05)
1299 - Aryana Bartlett ('05)

In doubles, Ella now heads the pack, after making the 25k semis at Notts, with Given, in May.

It currently looks like this:

659 - Ella McDonald ('05)
946 - Given Roach ('05)
1062 - Ranah Stoiber ('05)
1353 - Jaquelyn Ogunwale ('05)
1353 - Sarah Copley ('07)
1414 - Talia Neilson Gatenby ('05)
1489 - Paulina Jurkowska ('05)
1511 - Fran Simpson ('07)
1547 - Brooke Black ('07)

The BIG news last week was that Isabelle Lacy (age 16) came through qualis at Surbiton.

She beat STEVANOVIC, Natalija (SRB) (7) 217 6-4 7-5,
and GILLAN, Alice (GBR) 743 6-3 3-6 6-2

AND then in the main draw defeated BRENGLE, Madison (USA) (3) 95 7-6(2) 5-7 6-1, got a walkover in the next round, before finally losing to Lily

So Isa is now the new top adult ranked junior girl in singles:

646 (+206) Isabelle Lacy ('06)
722 - Talia Neilson Gatenby ('05)
767 - Ranah Stoiber ('05)
1105 - Ella McDonald ('05)
1288 - Aryana Bartlett ('05)

In doubles, Ella is now up to WTA 574, having made another 25k semi-final, this time in Austria, with Nguyen Tan

In the boys, big congrats to Freddy Blaydes (age 17) who is now our top-ranked junior boy in doubles, after success with his brother, Billy

Doubles:

1080 (+256) Freddy Blaydes ('05)
1836 (=) Nicolas Philibert ('05)
1893 (+32) Henry Searle ('06)

In singles, it's still Henry, Phoenix, Nicolas, and Zach, all within a stone's throw of each other, at the bottom end of the ranking table

Isabelle continued her wonderful run of good form with a win over Golubic WTA 138, and only losing by the skin of her teeth to Bolsova, WTA 110
Talia also chalked up a super win over Robbe, WTA 216, before very unforunately suffering a hip injury

This means our top two girls in WTA are:

594 (+58) Isabelle Lacy ('06)
702 (+31) Talia Neilson Gatenby ('05)

In doubles, the good news is that Isa Lacy now also has a doubles ranking.

AND a big welcome to the rankings to Georgina (Gigi) Hays, age 16

We now have 11 girls with WTA doubles rankings
