Ranking to win at each level.
(Preview)
I was wondering whether someone has any stats for what ranking players are when they win tournaments at various levels, from lowly ITFs to GSs, and how this varies (if at all) between men and women.

LTA's 'Transforming British Tennis Together'
(Preview)
I am doing some research into how the LTA's headline '£250 million' TBTT investment aimed in doubling the number of kids playing tennis and doubling the number of times infrequent adults play is going one year post launch. I am hearing stories that the LTA is driving club volunteers who are trying to a...

Qualis or Qualies ?
(Preview)
Ok, so we do a fair bit of linguistic navel-gazing on this site so I thought I would throw out this: I seem to be the only person who goes for 'qualis' - everyone else (here and on twitter) is a fan of 'qualies'. Now, I'm not sure if there's a right answer here but my reasoning is: If qualifications ever gets s...

RIP Jana Novotna
(Preview)
Very much saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of Jana Novotna from cancer at the age of 49. A lovely player and person. Remembered especially fondly here for her determination, frailty and humanity in exploits at Wimbledon; and, of course, triumphing over it all in glorious fashion in 1998. S...

The Best Non-Ranked Player in the World

Very random question, but this popped into my head last week. Who would win a world championships to find the best player without an adult world ranking. The types of contenders could be: 1) An up and coming youngster yet to win his first ATP point 2) An ex-world ranked pro recently retired from the cir...

What is the best structure to limit professional tennis to 500 ranked players?
(Preview)
Match fixing at the lower levels of tennis is about to drive a reduction in the number of ranked professional tennis players to 500. How will that work? What do you think is the best structure? A qualifying school as in golf? Could it result in the development of a rival tour? Perhaps an Under 23 tour? Wi...

Clay court tennis - GB women

We see a lot of our LTA funded men being asked to go and play clay court matches to improve their game, but I don't seem to see that being promoted within the women's game.
