Australian Open - Womens

Surely Halep will finally do it this time but obviously would rather Jo did it instead!

Obviously Id love to see Jo take the title, but if not her Id be delighted to see Caroline Wozniacki break her slam duck. One of my absolute favourites :)

4 of the ladies got 2 or more votes as we end the day before play starts:

Wozniaacki with 2
Halep with 3
Svitolina and Kerber with 4 each

Out of 16 cast.

Will the winner come from one of these 4? Let play begin!

Pavlyuchenkova, Kasatkina, and hotly tipped dark horse (becasue of her current ranking), Bencic, all out.
Wozniacki, Svitolina & Ostapenko all made very heavy work of their wins; each needing three sets. Only Svitolina's opponent, Siniakova, might have reasonably been expected to provide such a challenge.

It's looking as competitive and hard to predict as... erm... predicted!

Wow, and Goerges - with her long unbeaten streak, all on hard courts - now dumped out by La Diva Alizé in straight sets!

It is indeed high time they introduced just 16 seeds for Slams to make things a bit more unpredictable

Svitolina's odds must be shortening fast - only seed left in her quarter now

Svitolina, Kerber, Halep and Wozniacki all still alive from the predicted winners listed above.

JoKo and Coco have gone - bet they feel like clowns...IGMC

Although well clear of the others, at least before the top half played their R2 matches, I sense that's more because her draw makes it likely she'll make the late stages and be in the shake up rather than great confidence that she will break her Slam duck. Still relatively long odds for a favourite, though guess we don't have such as a Serena dominating the market.

No more casualties in those tipped today, although Caroline Wozniacki has a tricky one as the last match up today on Laver.

Kerber is on fire. I see the betting is wide open 5-1 the field.
