Tonight, Ferrer and Gasquet can overtake, but Andy can take back the place if he beats Chela on Saturday.
If Djokovic loses tonight, then Andy can overtake him on Saturday as well.
Ferrer plays Stepanek; Gasquet plays Monfils; Djokovic plays Udomchoke.
So those three are our prime targets tonight.
Also playing are:
Youzhny, Hrbaty and Safin, who are threats if they make the final. Ancic, who Andy can overtake if he makes the final, and Ancic doesn't make the QF. Roddick and Robredo who Andy can overtake if he wins the Australian open.
You mean I have to support sexy Stepanek AGAIN? I remember having to do that several times last year, and I must say he made a pretty good job of knocking out Andy's competitors then.
It is a bit of a struggle to support Monfils over Gasquet, but hey, anything for Andy.
No problem supporting Udomchoke, he is quite cute, and unless Djokovic has given up bouncing the ball a zillion times before serving (I haven't seen him this year) I would be glad to see the back of him.
(He may have made a New Year Resolution - has anybody noticed how much less time Nadal is wasting before serving? Today I could swear he was legal most of the time. . .)

Looks like it, shall we ressurect the fan club or wait and see how he does with the first of the competitors?

Really? I'll have to find a picture of him.

I hope he has but somehow doubt it!

Yep. I was shocked. Flabbergasted even. Legal might be a little optimistic though -- Edited by Madeline at 17:26, 2007-01-18

Re Udomchoke - not so much the looks, more the way he puts his hands together and bows to all the spectators at the end of a match. As Srichaphan does - must be a Thai thing.

Djokovic is looking rather lovely this year. I was enjoying his match with Feli Lopez on so many levels the other night there.
The lovely Djokovic won The Fed managed to get rid of Youzhny for us
Now Gasquet and Monfils are on court: Gasquet bagelled Monfils in the first set , went 5-1 down in the second, but has now won 3 games on the bounce, and its 5*-4, with Monfils serving for the set.
Stepanek is doing the business fro Andy again: He's a set and 4-1 up against Ferrer
Looks like Activeboard have given us a new text editor: seems to have fixed a lot of the old problems, but it's messed up the smilies
And thanks for updating the scorelines. Unfortunately it's not going the way it should: probably bad vibes from here, where it's not going good either.
