Yep - she made that first set look hyper easy

Honestly, using this message board on my phone makes me look illiterate half the time. It hates hyphens, apostrophes and ellipses. A struggle!

But yeah, Hannahs backhand and serve look pretty big already. Movement is decent. Forehand bit more hit and miss but still crazy good for 14.

Yes. Her opponent had more weapons than one might expect from a qualifier too.

She didn't really move out of second gear.

She can play a lot better than that too biggrin

Excellent again from the girls. Its amazing to have three through into the last 16 as Mimi and Mika also win, Mika against a seeded player. We also have Hep and Isa still to play but from CDs account, it will be hard for Isa against Maya Joint.

Unfortunately Viktor and Charlie both go out but to fairly close matches, both going to three sets.

The girls are going superbly here - when have we surpassed 3 in the last 16,
Maybe 4 or even 5? Impressive so far!

Mika is having a very good tournament. Into the 3rd round in both singles and doubles and she is still 15.

Yes. And she also reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon as well beating Sonobe and Emerson Jones, so its been a good twelve months for her. Shes a bit lucky in a way having players like Mimi, Hannah, Hep and Isa all sharing the spotlight so hopefully it doesnt become too much for any of them.

Agree Nix, and what a BJK cup team we could have in the making here!

Ii've just read that the juniors are playing the "no-let" rule.

Yes, I saw one marked example in the Efremova match

Just to reiterate paulisi's comment - nice to see Mika, who was knocked out very early last week in singles, seemingly really in a groove this week here

But, yes, she's got the second seed next, Saito, who beat Katie Swan a week or so ago (although Katie, needless to say, was probably limping along on one leg)

So we have 3 GB junior girls through to the last 16 matched only by the USA. Well done to Mimi, Hannah and Mika.

Hep only lost 6-4 in the third

A very good show - she seems to have stepped up. But she's got rather a lot of points to defend in the next couple of months so it's a shame she couldn't squeeze another win.

(Isa's was far quicker, although she was playing the girl who did very well in the adult qualis)

Watched a little of each. Ben was playing someone 18 months his senior but was very much in the match. I like his game and what he lacks in height he's certainly trying to make up for in other areas. Good movement, strong ball striking, and a decent first serve. First time I have seen him in two years and I'm impressed with his development.

Yes, the girl Isa played took the current main draw quarter-finalist to 3 sets in qualies. She started brightly enough breaking early on but then it ran away from her very quickly. Lots to work on, and still lots of potential imo.

Hep had chances in the first set. Just too many unforced errors. Cut those out and weeeeeeeee she'll be right up there.
