Boys & Girls: J300 Repentigny, Canada, hard (week 35)

This traditional warm-up for the US Open has been going since 1986, with just 2 British singles winners:  Andy Murray in 2003 and Marcus Willis in 2008. No British girl has ever won here, but we have a strong quartet trying to change that in a relatively weak draw (Mimi Xu is the top seed, ranked lower than all the top 8 boys seeds).

Boys R1 (L48)

Oliver Bonding v (Q) Rohan Belday (USA)

Girls R1 (L48)

(1) Mingge Xu bye

Eliana Kook (CAN) v Isabelle Lacy

Mika Stojsavljevic v Nadia Lagaev (CAN)

(5) Hannah Klugman bye

Heres hoping Mimi can get her mojo back here. Hasnt really clicked in singles this year.

I have a feeling this may be Hannahs big break through.

Lots of BYEs in the doubles draw

And Mika and Isabelle have decided not to play doubles..... slightly injured? Don't like doubles?

Hannah & Mimi playing together, though

And Oli has a US partner

Because they need to get to New York for qualifying on Thursday?

Shame. That's not really what you want just before the grand slam - and her match last week had been very competitive in score....

Isabelle manages a win. Oli plays tomorrow. It's common for those in US Open qualifying not to play doubles here as , although 2 Special Exempts are available, they often go to players left in singles (who have priority)

Girls R1 (L48)

(1) Mingge Xu bye
Isabelle Lacy d. Eliana Kook (CAN) 6-4 7-6(7)
Nadia Lagaev (CAN) d. Mika Stojsavljevic 6-2 6-0
(5) Hannah Klugman bye

(12) Maya Joint (AUS) v Isabelle Lacy
(5) Hannah Klugman v Taylor Goetz (USA)

Returning to hard courts in the Americas which propelled Oli to the top 50 seems to have been a real tonic for him, as he takes out a seed today. The top seed is a potential round 3 opponent

Girls R2

(1) Mingge Xu v Emma Andrea Tutoveanu (CAN)
(12) Maya Joint (AUS) v Isabelle Lacy
