Arrrgh ignore the last post as she is hitting through the ball when she gets a bit more time on the ball.
Come on Katie

I must admit that I didn't understand your previous post.

What a match this is.

That net cord to be broken at *3-4 after saving two break points was brutal (although it was her own fault she was *0-40 down). Very impressed with how she responded, eventually breaking after saving a match point bravely in between.

*5-6

Not such a "nice idea" at 30-30 in the previous game!

She just needs to be a bit more consistent.
What do you guys think about Katies backhand? My opinion is she could be hitting through the ball with her bh a bit more but maybe the speed of a grass court doesnt let her do this???

Actually, I know what you mean

She uses the 'Aggie Radwanska' style backhand rather a lot

Katie B did too yesterday

Plants her feet, bends, and leans into the ball, rather than positioning and hitting it 'properly'

I'm not a great fan but I might be a bit old school - I can see it's quite effective when you haven't got much time but I think it becomes the 'go-to' shot a little quickly

Those two forehand UEs on the first two points were really costly...

Shame that performance ended with that tiebreak but Wickmayer didn't really put a foot wrong.

Definitely feels like one that got away but super fighting until the end, some good points, and hopefully the body is holding together.

A great week!!

Bah

But still a very encouraging week for Katie and other Brits.

Fair play to Wickmeyer she raised her game from the 2nd set and looks as fit as a fiddle.

Terrible tie break from Katie, and like most British women can not front run. But great tournament overall.

Welcome Katie B to British number 1!

I just came in for the last few games, this is the first time I have been able to watch Katie till now,  looks so tired and lack lustre, has she been like that all match, or is it the result of 2 and a half hours on court, or a weeks worth of matches?
