So as per the earlier described ranking points based on the WR of the player you beat, 40 points for Cam and 15 points for Katie.

(*)  never heard of her!

Zoe Hives qualified at Wimbledon this year, losing to Sakkari in the first round of the main draw. She entered using her SR of 140. She hasn't played on tour since August and her ranking of 772 is a bit misleading. Could be a real test for Katie.

Thanks, TA.  Nice that it wan't quite the test you feared.  smile

Im trying to work out the point of 8 player teams here - the participation fee says it is pro rated based on appearances so anyone not actually playing doesnt get the fee - or have I read it wrong? So what is the point of Jan, Jonny, Ella and Ranah? Maybe one reserve
Man and one woman, but two of each sex?

Nothing about this makes sense to me. And you would think we would play Jonny in the doubles. Will Jan ever get court time? He could have been away getting ranking points and prep for Oz open.

I can't help but believe that the LTA will be paying the guys

They don't need to pay the girls, they're still juniors and part of the very well-funded system, it's their quid pro quo.

But I don't believe Jan is there, say, without either direct payment or promise of future favours in terms of wildcards or whatever

One would imagine that someone has said to Jan keep your ranking above X and a Wimbledon main draw WC will be yours. Also Jonny has slipped a bit so maybe also keeping his nose in for a WC in the grass season.

#1 and #2 players get 40% of the participation fee regardless of if they play + 30% of the fee for each group stage singles match they play or 15% for each group stage mixed doubles (if not played singles). #3 and #4 players get 100% of the participation fee regardless of if they played.

It doesn't have to be 4 players, it can be 3. I guess in the case of Ranah, she's in Australia, she's not playing elsewhere, so why not name her on the squad so she gets some money?

It's also valuable experience for the girls, not only for the atmosphere but being with and practising with the top players. I'm sure Jan and Jonny are getting good practice too.

Ok, got it - the write up on participation fee on the tournie site was more superficial than that above, thanks btw, so seemed like if you didnt play you didnt get one. But if they do, cool, and decent practice.

still cant stand the format, 4 singles and a mixed (why not 2 singles and one of each doubles type maybe?) and hate it being split over 2 days per tie; and dislike the contrived process to find semifinalists - dogs breakfast of an event all round! And 4 players per sex per team is too many.

and the one sided nature of many of the ties.

all that aside, Ill keep tabs on it.
