So just 1 Brit through and 2 to still play. Not going to plan?!

Says a lot about the quality of opposition.

hopes rest on Johannus Monday and James Davis ( the link refers to him as Daivs).

Hopes dashed. Johannus and James Davis have suffered first round exits

Summary of the first days action (BK, tenniskal)

Tough R1 draws for a number of the Brit men and for many of the seeds eg #1 Draxl vs McNally. Most of the first round seeding casualties were in the 9-16 seeding groups, with just one player from the top eight seeds falling in both men's and women's play.

  • Clark/Thompson Clark won all four games that went to a deciding point including the 3 on Thompsons serve
  • Walton/Davis Walton was only broke once in the match
  • Diallo/Stewart Only 2 breaks of serve in the whole match; Diallo broke Stewarts first and last service game; Stewart was serving 3-4 (40/0) in the third then Diallo won 8 straight points to close it out; Diallo only faced 3 break points and won them all.
  • Cukierman/Gray Cukierman won 7 of the 9 games that went to a deciding point
  • Spizzirri/Monday Spizzirri broke on a deciding point to win the match. 8 of Mondays 11 service games went to a deciding point he won 6 of those. Spizzirri never trailed in the match while going just 3 or 14 on break point opportunities. Monday only had 3 break points (1/3)

Longest Mens Matches to feature Brits

  • 2 hours 14 minutes (Diallo/Stewart)

Shortest Mens Matches to feature Brits

  • 1 hour 6 minutes (Clark/Thompson)
  • 1 hour 16 minutes (Spizzirri/Monday)

As I commented in the Men Ten thread, if the LTA had a strategy to encourage young male hopefuls to sign up up for College tennis, it would probably be more successful than any of their previous/current ones...

At least in the Mens dubs we are guaranteed a Brit in R2...

EP, I couldn't get your link to work, but googling tennisone brought up the website, so clicking on that took me straight to livestreaming and the 1st option is NCAA tennis championships & a few of the GB lads playing now

Well done so far to Finn ( last male left after sister Bronte was last womens singles left).

Anyone left in womens doubles or is Finn our sole rep?
