Round up of their match by Bobby Knight

  • Finn Murgett/Tad Maclean, Auburn def. Riley Smith/Daniel Cukierman, Southern California 7-6(2), 3-6, 10-3
    • IMO Single point tiebreaker is brutal especially in the singles !

Finn Murgett+Tad Maclean (Auburn) have progressed to the Men's doubles finals . They play the Aussie pair from Tennessee (seed No. 3) in the final tomorrow in an All-SEC showdown.

Interestingly , the men's singles final is also an All-SEC affair with Florida's Sam Riffice battling Daniel Rodrigues from South Carolina.  This is the second tine ihat South Carolina has had a player in the men's final with Paul Jubb winning the championship in 2019.

Well done Finn and Tad!!

Follow them with a close eye tomorrow!

I understand its the second time a Portuguese has reached the singles final, last time Paul Jubb beat Borges in the final. It seems written for him to win this time!

Best of luck to Tad and Finn.

Remember seeing both of them play as juniors.
Finn, a pretty small lad, was rather prone to high histrionics, but played with an intensity, I recall, and Tad - definitely not small, a towering kid even at 17 - had a serve that bombed down and was a pleasure. He was definitely a pick for the future.

There's a nice article about the two of them and their run here on the Auburn tigers site:

After 4 seasons at Iowa, Joe Tyler (UTR 12.63) is transferring and has signed with San Diego State
@AztecMTennis for fall of 2021 as a graduate transfer.
The Brit played at the #3 spots this year & had overall records of 56-54 in singles/52-39 in doubles for the Hawkeyes. ATP singles rank #1706.

As we are heading into the time for transfer announcements I will wait a few weeks and add them all as a lot on the transfer list p1

Would be nice if they did get a wildcard. Can't recollect if Eden Richardson got a Wimby wc when she won the NCAA doubles championship in 2018.

Another one to add - Eden Richardson (LSU) will join the University of Miami Hurricanes as a graduate transfer and compete with the team in 2021-22 during her final season of eligibility.
