Ach, gets a set point but a fairly weak return into the net.

*5-2 becomes 5-5*

Set point #2 - drags backhand wide

Set point #3 - return half way up the net.

Another double from Fett gives set point #4 which is taken!

7-6(7) 0-0*

Naiktha's conqueror, Tessa A. was beaten by Timea Babos  Not British but I notice Ana Konjuh is through to the last round of qualifying  to play Sara Errani.  Tsvetana Pironkova is through to play Margarita Gasparyan(a player much plagued by knee troubles)  in the final round of qualifying. Anna K.Schmiedlova and Rebecca Sramkova who played against GB in the Fed Cup last year are also through to the final round of qualifying.

The match in October in Istanbul was a roller coaster as well, Fran lost the opener to love and then a tight second before walking away in the 3rd. A tightly won 2nd set now would be nice!

These two seem well matched on the whole based on their two matches. But Fran is stretching away again the 3rd, like she did in Istanbul, 4-1 here and two breaks

Great stuff. Fingers crossed she can see this home. A really big opportunity to make the main draw if she does.

The next opponent for the winner would be Jia-Jing Lu, ranked 200. No idea about her pedigree, on face value not a bad opponent for FQR

Amazing. A very good final round draw but she did seem to be hobbling a fair bit walking up to the net. Lu is the sort of player I'd be expecting Fran to beat in ITFs as she moves up the rankings, and this is the first time Lu has ever won matches in Slam qualies (with a pretty kind draw herself - Jovic then Shinikova). The final 4 in this section all ranked in the 200s
