Jana Fett up next for Fran, Fran beat her in their only match in Istanbul in October, 3 sets.

Fran should go into it with no fear.

Jana Fett should have beaten Caroline Wozniacki in the 2018 AO. 5-1 up and match points and lost. Was never the same afterwards. Remember Fett being very busy for Croatia at Fed Cup at Bath in 2019.

Doing some work on the players in qualifying. Notice that Jana Fett has never played any main draw singles in Grand Slams since the Wozniacki defeat.

This is a great result for Jones so far, she has truly moved up a gear the past year! And, what an inspiration. Hope she continues to make a strive up the rankings, as she really is a great role model for younger players!

What does everyone rate her chances against her next opponent? I'm quietly optimistic. Her opponent is 31, this is her first pro tournament since March 2020, her CHR is 162 and her current ranking is 200. Based off of Fran's last two matches, if fully fit and mentally prepared she could take this!

I have no doubts Fran will win this. Shes playing at above top 200 level and Id reckon on a straight sets win, although they could be close sets.

Well odds-wise, Fran is like 2/5 and Lu is circa 2/1, so it really is a fantastic chance on paper, and when you see some of the names in the FQR like Pironkova, Juvan, Schmiedlova, even young Danilovic who already has a full WTA title and is starting to show form again, or some of the actually FQR match ups, then it's worked out really well, but then matches aren't won on paper or in a betting office so she has a job to do.

I guess Lu (and her fans) could say similar, and Fran probably wouldn't be the name they'd have expected to face should their player have made it this far, but when Fran's had so many great 100-199 type wins since the restart, it would be a shame if she couldn't get over this final hurdle in arguably the biggest match thus far of her young career. She's surely on course for a Wimbledon MDWC, but to qualify for her first slam, the first time her ranking is high enough to enter qualifying, would be special.

A bit of trivia but Francesca and Naiktha were both born in Leeds.

Another piece of trivia is that in winning 2 matches in AO qualifying Francesca is doing better than JoKo ever managed in AO qualifying. Jo failed to win more than 1 match in any of her  3 attempts to  qualify in 2013 to 2015. I notice in her first round of qualifying in 2014 she beat Grace Min.

Previous match, Pironkova, has just won, so Fran should be on in the next 10-15 mins.

I have found it frustrating finding the court I want to watch each morning on the AO watch live so I have found court 5 already!
The feed when I've eventually found it has been great smile

Pironkova has just beaten Gasparyan, so Fran should be on soon.

Juvan and Burel the other 2 to book their main draw spot thus far.

Are you watching on a TV DF? I was watching some matches on my fire stick the other day, and it wasn't the easiest to navigate the courts, but have mainly just been watching on the laptop this morning, flicking through the courts and numbered much clearer there. Will be concentrating fully on the Fran match now though.

Fran is in fact from Oxenhope near Haworth which is keighley as much as Leeds. Haworth Main Street is the famous Hovis hill, from the adverts, the steep cobbled street that they used in the tour de France when it came hear in 2014. Lovely countryside, keighley not so lovely though !

Watching on my laptop Ace. It was rather like the game where you need to find the Queen and there are three cards on the table before you and you watch them

being moved around. Then believe you know which one it is only it isn't!!! At least I haven't lost any money!!!

A brilliant start from Fran 2-0

Strange. I'm just watching on Chrome on the laptop, and mine is displaying big, clear boxes with:

AO 2021
> WOMEN'S
QUALIFYING

Women's QF - Court 1 (etc.)

So you can't really miss them, and it's been great just moving around the 6 live courts.

More importantly, great start from Fran as you say. Survived BP on the first game, but has been going really well since.

Not a bad start, 6-0, ha.

Hopefully she can keep a similar standard in this set.
