Yes I know Sonay (my son played her back in orange ball days), and unlike some of the 'elite' players families hers was always very approachable.

This group is a real dog fight now. Winner of harriet and naomi should now become favourites to win through, but the other place with Freya, Eden and loser of the upcoming match will become 1 from 3.

If Naomi won 2-1 then both she and Harriet would be on 7 points, and Harriet would still have 0-3 (0-6 sets) Emily to play, whereas Naomi would still have both Eden and Freya, so I'd still say Harriet would be in a better position in that scenario, but if NB could win this 2-0 then she'd be in a very good position.

I know you can't get 3 set epics here, but it's still quite strange how all the respective court matches have finished within minutes of each other, so a pretty clear order of play so far.

Harriet won 4 and 4 so that should be her through, and then 1 from 3 as suggested above.

Sonay not totally out of it, and taking matches individually, it's maybe not as much as a long shot as it seems - Harriet beats Eden, Sonay beats Freya and Emily Arb, as she did when she won her title, and then Naomi vs Eden and Naomi vs Freya split wins and sets, but she's going to need a bunch of absolutely perfect results, so collectively, very unlikely. She'll realistically be more targeting avoiding the bottom 2.

Naomi vs Freya/Eden will obviously be significant.

Missed it ! Emma wins 3 & 0 in exactly one hour

I spoke too soon last night about Emily, ha. Emma won the final 11 games.

That quick Emma win, and Ward-Johnson flying through their match on the same court, in addition to the fairly long MTB Fery-Penniston match on the other court hasn't helped the OOP. It ran perfectly for the first 3 matches on both courts, with matches smoothly following on at the same time, but now, a significant portion of the Eliz-Nadia match is almost certainly going to directly clash with the Jodie-Beth match.

A bit harsh on Beth as she has nothing to show for a near 2 hour battle with Jodie, but as Abigail said, pretty much all the extended games went to Jodie. 6-3 6-3.

Jodie plays Emma tomorrow in what will surely be a group decider, and fairly significantly, more than likely to avoid Harriet in the SF.

Storming comeback by Eliz in the final (on going) womens match. She was *1-4 down, but won the next 5 games to take the set, and has an immediate break in the opening game of the second, so 6 games in a row.

Obviously not as exciting as a tense race for the top 2 spots, but it should be really tight for places 3-6 in this group, and it's obviously significant money for these players the higher you finish.

Only 3 breaks in the Beth/Jodie match, but lots of deuces. As you say, a bit harsh on Beth, but at times she is a bit over-aggressive and overhits what shoild be easy winners. Much better than yesterday though

Yeah, I'm not sure if she deserved a set because she didn't get past 3 game, so it's not like she made Jodie have to win 7 games, and I'm not actually sure if she had a BP - it said 0/0 at the end, but you can never trust those, but it's one of those things - be on court for 1 hr 54, compete well, but get as much for it as you would for a 45 min beatdown, tangibly speaking anyway, but she can obviously take confidence from it, and she was a lot better than yesterday as you say.

She may well benefit from playing Emma in the final group match, depending on how Emma vs Jodie goes tomorrow, but she'll really need to beat Eliz tomorrow, ideally in straights, to stand a realistic chance of finishing in the 5th-8th playoff brackets, but just 2 points separating 4 players after 3 matches each.

Eliz has just done similar to Emma - won the final 11 games to take the match, but she went from 1-4 to 6-4 6-0, rather than 1-3 to 6-3 6-0.

- Edit she actually had a lot of BPs, 3 in one particular game. I really don't get those end stats. Unless it just counts them if you actually get the break, but they're pretty redundant.

The order of play is out for tomorrow. I'll post it later when on pc, unless someone else does it first.

I saw that, nice and early, and the 3 matches on C1, 3 on C2 split again. It'll likely be me if anyone was to post the OOP, haha, but I'll just for you as you'll have all the rankings.

Have to start checking the rankings again soon, bound to be some changes in the next few weeks. Might not affect the 250+ rankings for a while though
