Week 32 - UK Pro Series Classic Week- St George's Hill, Weybridge - (Hard)

Some very decent performances by Emily. She needed to step up and, if not yet consistently, there have been some good signs since restart.

Now hope she has been taking on board any common lessons from these close defeats and can turn more tight matches into victories

An even later finish for the women today, and it could still go on for a while yet.

Nadia won 7 games in a row to lead Beth 6-4 4-0*, then 5-1*, but Beth has closed it to 5-3*, and she has just saved a MP.

A second MP for Nadia now...brilliantly saved.

And a cracking hold from Beth, to reel off 3 games herself. 6-4 *5-4.

Court 1 again, interesting. Presumably the dedicated coverage again then. I'm fine with the basic YouTube stream as we've had it for 5 weeks, but I do much prefer it when it has the BBC online type presentation like today.

yep, that is what I make it also. One would fancy the top 2 in group B to make it comfortably, maybe a battle in Group A for the 2 spots if Eden can fight hard

Yeah, as much as I'm a fan of Jodie and Emma, and the impressive $20k winner purse, I'm kind of more interested in the race for 3rd and 4th in that group at the moment, especially with Nadia blowing that wide open with her surprise win today. I suppose Emily Ap did push Emma to an MTB in their BT meeting a few weeks ago, and if she can nick a win tomorrow, then it may keep things interesting, but she pretty much does have to win, or otherwise that group will be relying on a withdrawl to change the status quo.

Group A is really interesting. Harriet should have enough, but anyone's guess at the moment between Naomi, Eden, and Freya. Sonay still a bit of an unknown quantity, but she has pushed the current top 2 fairly close, especially Naomi, but she'll need to beat Eden tomorrow. Finely poised after 2 matches.

Jodie Burrage has something special shot wise, hopefully she stays fit and gets her head a little more together.

Freya and Emily Arb about to get underway. I'd like to see Freya get the win to keep things more interesting in the race for the top 2, since she has beaten Eden, while Emily has already lost twice, including Eden, so an Arb win will probably just mean both of these end up 4th-6th in the group.

Emily has won both SGH meetings, and the bookies have them pretty much 50/50 (first time this week 2 players have been odds on in an individual match), so an interesting one to kick things off.

Freya won nice and easily.

Freya won 6-2 6-1, but that last set itself, while dominant looking, lasted over an hour, despite only being 7 games. Hard to see Emily not finishing in the bottom 2 now, but could be really close at the other end.

I see they have mixed the courts up, so 3 women's matches are on Court 1 today (and the better coverage), and 3 matches are on the fixed camera Court 2. It does ensure equality, but could also mean that women's matches clash with women's later in the day, and the same with the men. I'd have been more tempted to keep it how it was and have a day of women on C1 today, a day of men on C1 tomorrow, and the mix it up later in the week when matches will be more important.

Eden vs Sonay about to start on C2 because the first men's match finished at pretty much the same time as the first women's.

With Harriet playing Naomi later, this win for Freya puts her into the mix now

Sonay takes the first set from Eden. If she can take the second as well, it could be very close for second place in the pool.

Brighton connections Seagull? smile

Into a MTB, so Naomi and Freya will likely be pleased that points are shared below them in the table.

Naomi vs Harriet should be starting as soon as this MTB is finished, as the men's C1 match was over about 5 mins ago.

Edit - and Harriet too of course, especially if Naomi can take a win in that match, but I'm still sort of currently looking at it as a few battling for one spot.
