BBs/UJs:  Aidan McHugh WR 552 (CH = 461 last August) defeated Ryan Peniston WR 393 (CH = 359 last September) by 6-4 3-6 [10-7]

Aidan redresses the balance for the Bulldogs after Jodie Burrage put the Jacks a point (or whatever!) up by beating Johanna.

BBs/UJs:  Cameron Norrie WR 77 (CH = 41 in May last year) defeated Daniel Evans WR 28 (= CH) by 4-6 6-3 [10-7]

Presumably the points are designed so the Captains target the 2, 3 pointers and above and try and direct their better players to play in those matches.

I think that makes it 3-2 to the Union Jack team:

Jodi B (UJ) beat Jo Konta (BB) 1-0
Ryan P (UJ) lost to Aidan McHugh (BB) 1-1
Dan Evans (UJ) lost to Cam Norrie (BB) 1-2
Lloyd G and Naomi B (UJ) beat Dom and Eden Silva 3-2 (2 points on this match)

That match point from Cam was insane.

Heather needs and 11 minute game to hold the first game against SBG

I think some of the lower ranked players are showing the benefits of having played a couple of weeks competitive tennis

That's certainly true. Heather looks a little rusty as well, but that may change if she can get her serve working - loads of net cords in the first couple of games.

Love the fact that this is team tennis, and with team captains.

More fun for everyone.

And a great learning exercise for some of our players

I know I twitter on about it but Judy Murray, I think, was doing a grand job with Jodie.

In the post match interview, Jodie said 'yes, I was playing and well and Judy kept telling me to do my 'dancing toes''

It's brilliant - exactly what Jodie lacks at times (like a lot of the JTC players (Freya, Ryan S, etc), she's a little flat footed at times and really needs someone to nag her - and 'dancing toes' is a lovely expression - it obviously resonated with Jodie

Dan and Cam was a more classic match - don't like the new tach, Evo, but some great points between the two of them

And it must be super for Anton to play Kyle - Anton's game is very much the same sort as Kyle's - it must be exactly what Anton will be aiming for going forward

I was a bit meh about the teams having no obvious distinctions but hopefully it will still get competitive from that angle.

And, yes, good for Jodie having Judy advising her ( I am one who thinks that Judy is a good team captain, both when players are on court and in build ups ). Keep these dancing toes and positivity, Jodie. JTC never consider such radical ideas?  confuse  ( or maybe yes she does need nagged ).
