Week 30 - St. James’s Place Battle of The Brits Team Tennis - NTC, Roehampton, United Kingdom (Hard)

Is this meant to be indoors or outfoors? I'd have preferred inside as a spectacle I think, but if you've got all the players and captains together cheering them on, like the Laver Cup, but double the amount, outdoors might make more sense.

I think I did hear on the Brit Tour coverage thst they were setting up temp stands or something.

Some more background info taken in bits and pieces from the LTA's website

"Jamie Murray is back in his Tournament Director''s chair later this month, gathering Britain's best women's and men's players to take part in a unique team competition, hosted at the LTA's National Tennis Centre in Roehampton from the week commencing 27 July.

The star-studded exhibition event will feature two teams selected by team captains, with eight matches - singles, doubles and mixed - across two show courts every day. Each team will be comprised of six women and six men, who will look to rack up points for their respective teams across the week-long event, with the overall winner to be crowned at the end of seven days of play."

"The teams will accumulate points from individual matches, as they race to the target of 60 points - which will see them crowned Battle of the Brits Team champions."

"Fans can follow all the action live via the BBC's digital channels (via the BBC Sport website, app and BBC iPlayer channels) as well as on the LTA's own Youtube and Facebook channels."

60 matches, 40 singles and 20 doubles.

Singles using ad scoring, and MTB for deciding sets. Double using no ad scoring, and also MTB for deciding sets.

The rules for this are ludicrously complicated, no idea how they came up with it, but in a way that makes me look forward to the event even more.

Basically would enable Jo to do her duty and leave for Palermo on Thursday night having played two matches.

Wow that does seem a crazy scoring system! What did they do put numbers in hat to decide how many points to give each match! Id have thought something simpler like Monday-Tuesday all matches 1point. Wednesday-Thursday all 2 points. Friday 3 points Saturday 4 points Sunday 5 points.

OOP out, it looks brilliant.

Does appear Harriet and Maia are nursing issues as Beth has been put down to play Heather in singles, but Harriet is playing mixed. Jo playing Jodie, and Boulter is playing Emma.

No Andy tomorrow but Dan, Cam and Kyle in action

Order of play available via twitter (haven't seen it elsewhere yet)
Jo and Heather are playing, along with the top men on the opening day, but not Andy yet

Andy only playing doubles this week, holding himself back for plans to possibly play Cinci(new york) qualies.

Jo possibly going to pull out of palermo, in favour of 4 weeks in U, which will no doubt please the Palermo organisers!

I hadnt realised these are all outdoor. Weather not supposed to be good today, but better later in the week?

There's a fair bit discrepancy in the Konta vs Burrage odds today. 888 / Unibet have Jodie 8/1, but 10Bet have her only 4/1, that's a relatively huge difference, others have her somewhere in the middle like 5/1, 13/2 etc.

You very rarely see such difference in 2 outcome betting.

Good, must have changed though as the write up on one of the links above talks about using two outdoor courts

They will go outdoors, once the weather improves.
