Week 8 - ITF M25 - Glasgow, Great Britain (indoor hard)

not at the tennis today but Hoyt has looked good all week. Broady struggled against Glasspool who I don't particularly rate. Liam should be winning this tournament lot of average players best ones are Hoyt Draper by far the most talented young player and the Frenchman Escoffier

Evan is the first player through to the semis:

QF:  (WC) Evan Hoyt ITF 66 (ATP 494) defeated (1) Liam Broady ITF 1544 (ATP 295) by 5 & 1  biggrin  bleh

Well played him!    He's playing an absolute blinder this week!  smile  Jack & Ejupovic now a set all.

After two hours & 13 minutes, Jack follows Evan into the finals:

QF:   (IR) Jack Draper ITF 79 (ATP 561) defeated (IR) Elmar Ejupovic (GER) ITF 65 by 6-3 3-6 6-3

Both Jack and Evan are approaching top 50 in ITF rankings. I suspect either another couple of good results or another good week will get them into challengers.

No offence to Liam but very happy Evan took that one smile

Big mixed emotions for me as I am a huge Liam fan, but he does seem to be struggling at the moment.  But also very pleased for Evan who would be much higher in the rankings if it were not for his lengthy injury layoffs.  Having had the pleasure on meeting them both, I want them both to do well, but on this occasion, well done Evan.  Now go on and get some ATP points out of the week by going further.

Having said all that, I hope Evan's win over Liam is not an omen for the Wales v England match tomorrow.  Sorry to my Welsh friends, but no divided loyalties on that one at all.

I think Liam has been struggling for quite some time hasnt he, agree though that this will be a big disappointment. Well done to Evan and Jack D though, good week for them so far, one more push and an ATP point !

SF:  (3) Evan Hoyt & Luke Johnson ITF CR 58 (14+44) (ATP CR 906 [356+550]) defeated (WC) Jack Draper & George Loffhagen ITF CR 3222 (1438+1784) by 7-5 3-6 [10-3]

It seems unfair to me that Evan & Jack should have been back on court so quickly after their singles matches when the other semi, in which none of the four players had a singles match, won't be on court until after Ryan's match against Escoffier has finished.  disbelief

Great win for Evan:

And another cracking win, with another pesky Dutchman biting the dust:

L16:  (IR) Jack Draper ITF 79 (ATP 561) defeated (IR) Gijs Brouwer (NED) ITF 30 (ATP 431) by 7-6(5) 6-2

I wish someone would see off bloody Sijsling!

Jeremy Jahn, the sixth seed, finally did & in straight sets, so:

SF:  (WC) Evan Hoyt ITF 66 (ATP 494) vs (6) Jeremy Jahn (GER) ITF 226 (ATP 386)

honestly I have gone from being lukewarm on the new rankings to actively despising them very quickly. I want to try and compare two players and I get two conflicting numbers where one player is much higher in one and the other player is much higher in the other. How is this good for fans in any way?

Over the two weeks so far, the top 6 players in terms of wins are:

Van Rijthoven - 6
Escoffier - 5
Peniston - 5
Draper 4
Hoyt 4
Kalenichenko 4

Any of Draper, Hoyt or Peniston could end up as top Brit over the two events. If one of them can out-do Escoffier, that will have been a very good performance I feel

The Yanks did for the second seeds, Mertens & Olivetti, in straght sets.

There are some f25 events coming up in Australia I hope Evan might head to them. I feel he could do well in them.
