Hope Katie's time comes soon....

On Twitter, a 5-minute poll at the start of the 3rd set split 59%-41% to Katie. I'd have voted for Hev (just) for the reasons a few people here mentioned but yes, when checking up on Brits' opponents, I've come across a few players with CH 101 or 102 (Rogowska would have been the first one to come to my mind too, since she's been a GB opponent many times!), plus the odd CH 100 who'd be devastated if they used Tarithmetic, so it's never guaranteed you'll 'make it soon' until you've crossed the line and enough potential overtakers are out.

Mind you, James Ward was in and out the top 100 so quickly you'd have missed it if you blinked.

It would be great for Katie to break the barrier, I realise it's a major milestone (and kerching moment). But you want her to do it, playing well, with the momentum to stay there and make a mark. If it's not quite the right moment yet, it certainly should be soon, she's young, if she's 106 now and 103, say, next week, at age 22, and statistically her peak is predicted to be 26, it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes I believe there was the comparison with Bogdanovic attached to James scenario that was a reasonable comparison that caused much discussion and controversy on this forum involving some of our posters. Cant remember who exactly.

Wow, just saw the score. Hev takes the first set 6-2. Lost first two games, but has won the last 6 games and taken 14 of the last 15 points. Great stuff.

Probably going to bed now, unless I end up checking the scores repeatedly. Doi awaits the winner so hopefully no all Japanese showdown.

6-2 0-0 *30-0, so make that 16 of last 17 points.

I'm staying up :)

Early break in the second for Watson, holding and then breaking to love.

In a bit of trouble here though. 6-2 3-1 *0-30.

Hmm, saved 2 BPs from 0-40, but couldn't save the 3rd.

3-2*

SF: WATSON, Heather (GBR) 133 def HIBINO, Nao (JPN) 130 6-2 6-2

F: WATSON, Heather (GBR) 133 v DOI, Miskai (JPN) 240 CH=30 10/10/16
H2H 5-0

In those five previous meetings Heather lost one set in a tie break and won the rest.

Managed to miss the conclusion but a great win and a welcome return to some form - 12 of last 14 games is some going.

Hopefully final is on around 10pm tomorrow.
