Dan broke with some really classy tennis. And then, after one of the worst volleys on the planet, and a complete misjudgement, he managed to get the job done, still playing agressively and on the front foot. Well done.
Stakovsky in control and a set up v Moraing. Dan v Stakhovsky will be a good test against a decent grass court player; be interesting to see.
Alex Ward v Granollers should be interesting match up as well, Alex nothing to lose there.
James Ward still to come, Tobias Simon is definitely beatable in round 1. Polmans won the two grass court Futures events down in Oz earlier this year so knows his way around on grass, but again Wardy should be looking to win against both Simon and Polmans.
L32: Tatsuma Ito (JPN) WR 164 defeated (1) Cameron Norrie WR 79 by 1-6 7-5 6-3
Cam not happy on grass?
L32: (Q) Tobias Kamke (GER) WR 228 defeated (WC) Jay Clarke WR 220 by 3 & 3
At last a bit of good news:
L32: (SE) Dan Evans WR 530 defeated (LL) Dominik Köpfer (GER) WR 236 by 3 & 5
L16: (SE) Dan Evans WR 530 vs (7) Sergiy Stakhovsky (UKR) WR 133 (CH = 31 in September 2010 - he's 32)
Dan should perhaps think about having a word with Matt Ebden, who beat him in the quarter-finals at Surbiton last week or, since Ebden is in 's-Hertogenbosch this week, even Dino, who at least took him to three sets.
I'm sure Dan knows Stakhovsky's game pretty well. He's been around for a long time
they played once before in 2014 indoors in Marseille when Stakhovsky won in 3 tight sets. I would say this is a 50-50 match but Dan should feel confident.

They sure did. Look back at the thread from that tournament and you will find an on site match report from Bob in France who was there that day.
Pretty sure that was the day when someone in the crowd who was sitting behind me, asked me if I was Evo's dad because I was cheering so loudly for him. It was certainly during one of the matches that week where Evo had come through qualifying.
