RE: Weeks 3-4 - Australian Open 2016 (men's)

Yes, pleased to see Andy put in the performance he did after the last couple of days.

And great that Nigel Sears has been given the green light to fly home in the next day or so. Al the very best to him.

A Ferret QF ( that was autocorrected and I kind of like it so let's leave it ) and if he wins that a SF vs Monfils or Raonic. Take that.

A potential final against Simon would have been a nice incentive.

(... although I am not completely confident that Simon would have beaten both Nishikori and Federer)

According to this report in the Torygraph, Andy was prepared to pull out of the tournament, had Nigel Sears' condition proved to be worse than it turned out to be.

Ferret hasn't lost a set yet, may prove to be a tricky match

Well done Andy
Put his foot down in the last two sets and pretty clinically snuffed Ferrer out.
Yet another SF! We know not how lucky we are.
May we become as blasé about Johanna's SF appearances in GS as we are about Andy's!

QF:  (2) Andy Murray WR 2 defeated (8) David Ferrer (ESP) WR 8 by 6-3 6-7(5) 6-2 6-3 - in three hours & 49 minutes!

Great news to which to wake up!  Andy's win following JoKo's means that we have two Gran Slam singles semi-finalists for the first time since 1977 ( biggrin ) - & we all know what happened in 1977...

******

SF:  (13) Milos Raonic (CAN) WR 14 (CH = 4 in May last year) vs  (2) Andy Murray WR 2

The head-to-head stands at 3:3, with Andy winning the last two (the quarter-final of last year's Madrid Masters & the 2014 WTF)

Ah yes, 1977; were the 5 planets aligned then too, I wonder?!

Is anyone else worried by the canadian servebot who awaits? He is in great form. For the sports sake, I hope andy wins, I hate servebots, so boring.

Yes.  I was at school, in an O-Level science class and the teacher kept running out to get updates on the score and pass them on to us.  Aagh.  Memories smile
