Wasn't apparently firing on quite all cylinders, but at least he got the job done against a tricky opponent.   NoDjo or Berd-brain in the final...

 NoDjo or Wawrinka. . .

Sorry, yes.  Dunno what made me type Berd-brain...   Corrected.

Wishful thinking? I think Andy may have Berdbrain's number now, I'm not so sure about the other two!

Djokovic it is, who serves up a bagel in the third to beat Stan.

That three-set win ends his 29 set winning streak. Er - good luck Andy!

For the record:

Final:  (1) Novak Djokovic WR 1 vs (2) Andy Murray WR 3

The head-to-head makes grim reading:  9-20.  bleh  True, Andy beat him in three in the Canadian Masters in August, but prior to that, he hadn't beaten him since that memorable straight-sets win at Wimbledon in 2013, a run of eight consecutive defeats! cry

Nice to see Andy wearing a poppy emblem on his shirt, by the way.

SC is right, Andy is WR 3 in this week's rankings.

He was WR 2 the previous Monday, hence seeded 2 here, and will be back up to WR 2 this coming Monday, but his official ranking for now is WR 3.

Edit : Ha, beaten by the lady herself

Djokovic a cut above at the moment. *5-2 up and dominant on serve

Whilst it would obviously be great to see Andy beat Nole and take the title in Paris, for me the most important thing is that he comes through "relatively" unscathed physically with perhaps just a "slight niggle" (wink) that forces him to miss the O2 finals.

Sorry to all those who want to see him win everything, which I would naturally do under normal circumstances, but for me his priorities at the moment should be (in order of importance):

1) Davis Cup

2) Davis Cup

3) Davis Cup

Lost 1st set 6-2

Andy serving at 61% first serves in that set, but Djokovic deadly when he gets a racquet on the return
Andy got as close as he has yet to a break at 15-30 in the last game but Novak holds to take the set 6-2

Jeepers, Djoko has won 3 of the 4 Slams and 6 of the 9 Masters Series this year. Poor Andy, to be born a week earlier than him, it's probably halved his career prize money.

Congrats to Djokovic, but what did he win ? Was that a trophy or an early Xmas Tree ?
