Week 44 - ATP 1000 - BNP Paribas Masters, Paris (indoor hard)

Poor ( OK, not that poor ) Andy was acknowledged as having joined Roger, Rafa and Novak as the only players to have reached at least the SF of all 9 Masters in their careers when he reached the SF here this week.

Just checking, he actually hasn't been beaten on court before the SF of any Masters this year. Withdrew at the L16 stage in Rome, because he couldn't stop winning clay court matches and hence playing more until he was knackered and didn't play the non compulsory Monte Carlo, choosing to get married around that time, let him off Otherwise he reached at least the SF in the other 7.

Yet, yes he trails a long way behind Novak in many ways. Indeed, as Ratty says, not great career timing. Couldn't Judy have waited a few more years to start a family ...

Andy is WR2 Stircrazy.

SC is right, Andy is WR 3 in this week's rankings.

He was WR 2 the previous Monday, hence seeded 2 here, and will be back up to WR 2 this coming Monday, but his official ranking for now is WR 3.

Edit : Ha, beaten by the lady herself

How bizarre, I checked the ATP site and he was about 800 points ahead.

Oh, hang on a minute. Did they do that irritating thing of defaulting to the race rankings instead?
