Will Andy sack Mauresmo?

A similar article in the Daily Fail, which includes a bit of extra background - www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-2913834/Andy-Murray-seeks-align-court-success-personal-bliss-targets-major-victory-Australian-Open.html

According to French reports, Océane Dodin (the young French girl pointed out as being vastly under-ranked when playing last year in the UK at WR500 or so) has just finished getting ready for the Ozzie Open, under the eyes and help of Amélie Mauresmo (and Henri Leconte).

So is Amelie splitting her time? Or was Océane's thing just part of a one-off FFT arrangement that Amélie is part of?

Would it be possible to moderate the title of this thread ? I would be sad for Amelie or any of the Murray camp to see a thread with this title on a british tennis (support) board.

The change in title presumably reflecting a shift in mood music with Andy now prospering under the new regime.

I still say the loss of Lendl - arguably the biggest game changer in the history of tennis - was the biggest mistake of his career. Andy should have opened his wallet and said 'help yourself, Ivan' but I won't venture beyond that weak quip for fear of re-opening the Independence debate.

The change in thread title appears to be simply down to the exchange above. The thread though seemed to have long ago become a more general discussion.

Exactly. I wouldn't have agreed to change the title if the discussions still reflected the original post, but it has become much more general now.

Eddie, I am in the 'anti-Amelie' camp - was and still am (although hope to be completely wrong).

But changing the title isn't a 'fair-weather' thing, after all, if you have a title 'should A sack B?' the answer is only yes or no. A more general title is better, more open and, as Madeline says, more representative of the more general way the thread had gone.

And talking of which, here's Dani in the Daily Mail, talking about how it went down with Andy and his new post with Berdych:

Well any "sacking" discussion is surely put to bed now........

I  hope so.   I seriously think we should respect Andy's decisions.  Obviously there will be changes in the future but this  current arrangement needs to be given a good and supported  chance.

Hear, hear. I said early in this discussion that the partnership needed time before any real assessment could be made. It's still early days, considering he was still recovering from surgery last year, but Andy looks more relaxed and happy than he has done for a few years - whether or not Amelie has anything to do with this, I don't know. So far, so good, though.

Nothing wrong though IMHO at airing our thoughts and there were many folk like myself with concerns about the Amelie appointment and in my case some of Andy's accompanying comments about such as reintroducing 'variety' in his game - my main worry being about losing the aggresion he had under Lendl. Though I did think that the 'sacking' thing was a bit silly or at least premature.

Andy is the sportsperson I most want to do well, but I have never simply agreed with all he says and does or not criticised his play at times and I'm not going to to change now on this duscussion board :)

As it happens, things are going much better than I expected. I do see a bit more variety back in his gane, but he is combining that with staying sufficiently agressive for most of the time.

And he seems in a very good place in his mind and happy in his team, and I feel that counts for a lot with him.

So, as a bit of a non Amelie believer, I have to say that the signs with Andy just now are very good.

I am so pleased that Mauresmo has turned it round for him. He has been fantastic since the start of the year. He could win the bloody thing now!

The thing is, he did sack his coaches, just not the one we were thinking of!
