A few hiccups in that second set - but on he goes.

Ferrer out, beaten by Troicki, a qualifier.

I've said it before but I really hope Andy can get a W on his breakdown by the end of the year. This is probably his best shot at it and even though the draw is perhaps tough for a 250, he's now virtually the top seed and I really hope he pushes on and wins the tournament. Not the most ranking points but confidence-wise, it could be big.

Agreed. Gasquet is the only real threat but Andy should really be winning this tournament.

I wouldn't say Gasquet was the only real threat. Tommy Robredo (or potentially Seppi) and Victor Troicki are also potentially quite dangerous.

That's Gasquet, Seppi and Troicki out. Monaco, then Giraldo or Robredo would await - if he can win today.

I don't know if it's the weather but Andy looks very mentally fragile.

Certainly seems that he's losing points between the ears.

It would help if he could get some consistency with his first serve.

Phew, relieved that he's held for 4-4.
Uncharacteristically too many UEs too.

Not pretty, but he got the W.

Job done. Let's hope he finds his first serve for the semi against Monaco, and hopefully the final. He seemed almost always to win the point when he got the first serve in - he just didn't get it in often enough.

He'll certainly have to improve to beat Monaco tomorrow.

Murray loses the first set 2-6! But is *2-0 in the second.
