RE: Boys: 2011 Australian Open Juniors - Grade A (Weeks 3-4)

this kid Vesely looks like a class act, seemed like a nice guy too from his run at the Junior Olympics with Olly, although i could be wrong

im still pleased with george's effort. after the long 10-8 match ( as well as a long dubs match) he came back and gutted out another tough 3 set win, and didnt disgrace himself today.

George won more games against Vesely  than anybody else did.

It is a good article on the Beeb, well worth reading.

That was my first reaction too. Whatever the rights and wrongs of these spats (and it's not as if we ever know anywhere near enough to judge), when parents and LTA fall out, it's bound to be the young player caught in the middle who suffers the most.

Since this is a public forum, I feel like someone should throw in here a note that this stuff about the father attacking an opponent is all just alleged with no corroboration on any media sites as far as I can tell. Similarly any comments about behaviour during matches.

That's not me saying I don't believe the people who are posting here, just that there is a combination of hearsay and very anonymous comments here, and we are clearly only seeing one side of the story.

The only thing that we can know for sure unless we were there is that Isaac was for some reason disqualified at the British Tour event this week.

People are of course free to draw their own conclusions based on that Facebook page and what was said on here earlier this year, though we are never likely to know the full history of what has happened over the year.

Edit:

I have now (3 June 2014) deleted 4 of the 6 posts before this one because it has been brought to the attention of another moderator that at least one of them may have been quoted out of context elsewhere. That would obviously be regrettable, particularly if a court case with even an indirect link to it may be pending.

As regulars will know, we tend to err on the side of free speech (i.e. leaving posts up) as long as the context of the thread makes it clear that any allegations that are not reported by official sources should not necessarily be taken as facts and there are people putting the other side of the argument - thankfully, on this forum, that is usually the case. That was one of the things I was trying to ensure when I wrote the earlier paragraphs of this post at the time, of course.

I realise that there are other allegations made in this thread too, but they are more obviously just personal opinion or rants, with plenty of balancing opinions written afterwards, i.e. nowhere near as specific as the allegation mentioned in the deleted posts.
