Boys: 2011 Australian Open Juniors - Grade A (Weeks 3-4)

I have memories of Muzza cramping up at Queens against Thomas Johannson before his first Wimbledon and I think taking a fair time to get going again without penalty.

There was clearly a delay on the SB that we wondered about but it wasn't actually hugely long.

Just seems little concession has been given by the umpire and it's been looked at as not playing on in relevant time  hmm.gif

harsh or not, there was def a delay longer than the time you are ment to have between points, rules are rules, unless it is changed

If i remember correctly, isn't there a rule regarding medical time outs and cramp?  Otherwise a medical timeout would surely have been appropriate.

George went on to play a long doubles match which he and his partner lost in the mtb.   I think we'll see what his powers of recovery are like....   He has done well, many seeds have fallen by the wayside. Hopefully he'll have a later match tomorrow.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but why isn't Ollie Golding playing here?  Is he concentrating on senior tennis?    I think he is down to play a Futures El Salvador soon.

Yes, I believe that it's something like cramp is considered a failure in conditioning rather rather than illness / injury and as such "tough" ( probably that word not used in the rules smile ).

What happened was probably theoretically right according to the rules.  But if so, I do think the rules in this situation are very harsh.

Re Oli not competing, he's actually apparently been banned from the Australian Open for being naughty at the Eddie Herr tournament at the end of last year. It's discussed a bit in this page :

Thanks for the welcome.

The LTA's attempt to save face has resulted in even more egg on their faces.
Having injured Isaac by not including him in their preview of British players in the AO.
They insult him further and get his name wrong in the re-write.

http://www.lta.org.uk/Articles/Australian-Open-2009/2011/Australian-Open-2011-Preview/

It is disgusting that these racist who victimise children are running our sport.

But wait, did they not spell a white man's name incorrectly last week, so could this particular instance be a case of the usual LTA ineptitude rather than rascism?

You would garner a lot more support if you didn't take everything to heart thus making the really bad stuff just seem like another rant.

It looks as if your lad had had a rough ride and its NOT ON - but spelling a boys name wrong - rascism? Give me a break.

The racism was the deliberate omission.

If you as a 14 year old made it to a Junior grand slam off your own hard work.
Then the federation which did nothing to help you, tried to keep you achievements
out of the news. I'm sure you would be very understanding.

George appeared the better player for most of that set, and then had a shocking last 3 games.
Wouldn't know what to think.
