Week 16 - ATP Challenger 75 - Tallahassee, FL, USA (clay)

Wow. And on clay. When I last watched him at Wimbledon his game was very serve dominated, son this is seriously impressive.

Here's hoping that Kyle can repeat the comfortable win in QR1 in Sarasota last week.

Sadly, he couldn't:

FQR:  (q11) Gerald Melzer (AUT) WR 563 defeated (q4) Kyle Edmund WR 420 by 2-6 6-0 6-3  bleh

I wonder what happened there.  Melzer obviously learnt a thing or two in Sarasota.  hmm

Oh go on then, 3 times in 2 weeks.

L32: (Q) Gerald Melzer (AUT) WR 563 Vs (LL)Kyle Edmund WR 420

 biggrin

That is pretty funny actually.  Hope Kyle is also amused .

Wow from Henry. That is some result and really showing what he can produce. Let's hope he can now go further.

Very sad.

Kyle has already had a taste of the commentary box at last year's Queens and at times like this I really do wonder how long it will be before he decides that that and maybe coaching would be better options. Might make more sense financially, and it really can't be much fun having results like this either.

He seemed to be making inroads when he did well in the ITF events near the start of this year back at home, but he is struggling at this level. Maybe hes finding clay hard with his legs and movement? Not sure Id write it off totally yet, but certainly not positive.

I haven't watched Kyle for a while but I got the impression from some posts over the last couple of months or so that his problems seemed on the face of it to be more technical than physical although no doubt there is linkage?

Got the match on now. Not too good for Henry looked liked he was going to be bagelled in the first set but has got one game on the board thank goodness. Will take time to get used to playing back to back matches at this level. Hoping the second set goes better for him.
