Week 7 - ITF W50 Roehampton - Indoor Hard

Ooh Mimi versus Mika. That will be interesting. Or is Mimi injured?

From the bit I saw earlier of both their matches Mika should win fairly comfortably but there is no accounting for a clash of styles making a difference.

Well done to the winners. Good looking result for Mika. Shame she and Mimi are playing each in FQR.

Pleased for Isabelle too, as she has had a few losses recently. Tough next round though.

Alice lost in straight sets.
Mika did indeed get the win over Mimi, but it took 3 sets.

Some interesting doubles pairings. Mimi pairs up with her qualifying conqueror and Lissey pairs up with Hannah.
Hep is in doubles so probably has the 4th singles WC.

Mimi didnt really get going to the second set, not her best game, wonder if she does have a niggle. Well played to Mika though.

Hep v Heather is a match to look out for!

As long as Hep plays she will get her 3rd counter for a WTA ranking regardless of the result.

It's a lot stronger than the Edgbaston draw isn't it?

Was seeing how far Heather could go up if she won the event, and it's around 10 places. The points for the winner of a 40k event have gone down a lot. Only a measly 50 points on offer, compared with 70 points for the equivalent event last year. Gonna be tougher for players to climb the rankings.

I was surprised just how many players in the draw are inside the top 300. I don't think we'll be seeing many Brits get through two rounds or even one round.

To me this seems a loophole because surely you could get a wta ranking based on three MD WC and three losses? I know it's only in certain level tournaments, but even on one occasion doesn't seem fair compared to those who've earnt all three counters by winning matches.
