(She was beating the top seed, had about 4 MPs, and lost - no idea if she bottled it and choked or Clervie played really well on the key points - but to be so close to a HUGE upset and to lose must be a killer)

Yes she lost all 9 singles matches, but at her best was British No. 1, a two-time national champion, ranked No. 125 in singles and No. 57 in doubles, and qualified and reached round 2 of the Australian Open. Not lofty by today's expectations, but not a bad benchmark.

Heard that her parents are dead committed to getting her to be a pro, but don't know how true that is.
Strong player, tall, great physique for tennis, decent technique, will do well (all a little 'taught' for me but it's maybe a little unfair)

Mika's on court introduction at the 16U Nationals said her coach is Joss Rae?

It certainly has the potential to be a factor, but more likely if she gets close to winning - and she has just taken the second set 6-3. Daniela also into a decider having taken the second set 6-3

Yes. You may well be right. And it was more Dani who had a wobble at the end of the second set. Mika hung tough. (Dani's double faults are not good - her second serve is not a proper second serve)

Isa Lacy is playing, and Imogen, and Ranah is into the second set.

And, unless anyone knows different, there's only one other 2008 born player (Jones), and Hannah K as a 2009. So Mika is obviously one of the very youngest taking part

Imogen looked a little out her depth, but I thought Dani did a good job overall to show some of what she can do losing in 3.

Ranah I can't understand what she's doing really. The polish girl doesn't offer much and yet she's really struggling to impose herself and now sucked into a third set.

So chuffed for Mika took her a few attempts but the match point she took was lovely.

There are a few other 2008 players. Alena Kovackova (who lost yesterday), Laura Samsonova (who won earlier today), Wakana Sonobe (who Mika beat), and Charo Esquiva Banuls (who is currently playing). I think that's all of them.

Yes pleased for Mika after last week. There are a few other 2008s - one of them being Mika's opponent

Mika won 5-7 6-3 6-1

Daniela lost 6-2 3-6 6-2
