Slight wobble when Hannah served for the match but Isa served out to 30 to win 6-2 6-4, and ensure the first all-British pair in the Wimbledon girls doubles final (Lizzie Jelfs won with a South African partner in 1994)
They did really well and pretty much outplayed their opponents for most of the match. What I really liked was the fun they had together and the fact they went for their shots. Great experience for both of them.
The first match I saw them play together it was Hannah who was far the better player, had to help Isa along
The second one was way more even
And in this match Isa absolutely shone - she had a super match
Not a close contest like the previous one, and Tatum had a really bad match.
But super enjoyable
Maybe also a bit of consolation for some of our girls from the GSs that they were beaten by the eventual finalists: Isabelle by Ngounoue and Mimi, Hep and Ranah by Bartunkova. The draw can be a bit unkind sometimes!
I don't think the draw was that unkind - possibly Lacy having to face Ngounoue as early as 2nd round - and an excellent performance all round with 6 seeds beaten.
There were just half a dozen players or so (eg Ngounoue, Bartunkova, Korneeva, Jarmichova, Ichii, Koike) that at this stage are a little but above the level of our best players. But when you consider how young some of our players are, it's all very encouraging.
Ive been following Mimi on Instagram over the past year, and tonight there is a reel full of goodbyes to school friends and teachers. Can anyone throw any light on this?

Probably that Mimi took her GCSEs a year early and may well focus on pro tennis, studying for A Levels at "home school"? That's my guess but I haven't heard anything as yet.
I might be missing something - a couple of people have said that Mimi looked below par. I've always liked Mimi, since seeing her against Eva Shaw when she was only 13 at the Surbiton Nationals (such a shame that Eva's injuries are obviously still a big issue - she was our champion, showed great potential).
But I thought Mimi played really well here (until the last three games in the last match). She seemed strong, on song, playing her style of tennis. SHe played two super matches, including beating a top-10 player. And a third super match (for 80% of it) but lost to a better player. I thought it was a really positive showing.
I do think that junior matches, however, are a little more unpredictable. It's true that adult players can have a 'mare, can lose the plot, can choke from 5-1 up, or whatever. But it's more common in juniors. And it makes sense. Emerson Jones yesterday really should have figured out that she was overhitting all her forehands. But she didn't. Coz she's only 14.
Bit late replying to this post, sorry. Yes, when I saw Mimi she looked pensive and nervous to me, not her usual self. She seemed like she wasn't in the moment. Just my take on things. Watched her many times and to my mind she wasn't 'on court' as much as she might have been.

She's leaving the National Academy to move on to the Pro Scholarship Programme.
