RE: Wimbledon Wildcards 2023 MEN

I have no idea why Anton would have a Wimbledon Q WC.

I very much doubt it. He's not really got the results, well not actually played that much recently, and was on Danish clay last week

There's more often than not at least one TBA in the initial.Q WCs allocations over and above the 2 WC play-off places, often filled by a further play-off competitor.

So Anton is just skipping Wimbledon?  I don't doubt it.

Anton chose to play last week on clay, in Denmark

It's not what you'd do, if you were wanting to play Wimbledon.

Do the wildcard play off fields get determined and announced today?

Does anyone know (and I am guessing Lambda will be the one to come to rescue!!) where or how they will show results etc for these - will there be a tournie link on the LTA site or are we just expected to get there through some onsite journos tweeting ( I seem to recall that when Marcus did well, it was all word of mouth and journalists throwing out occasional updates?!).

It looks like it is 2 days - so round one on day one, then two rounds on day two? And presumably these are best of 3 sets with tie breaks at 6 all or is the 3rd set different??

The draws have to be announced today because matches start tomorrow

https://www.lta.org.uk/495ee1/siteassets/pro-players/lta-wimbledon-wild-card-play-offs-fact-sheet-2023.pdf

The draw is normally on the LTA website and updated at the end of the day, but I don't remember livescores (might be wrong....)

Never get live scores. Reliant on LTA updating their site or one of the privileged few posting on social media

Did you see the good news, paulisi? Maybe our moaning has caused things to happen...... live scores !!! You never know, next thing, they might even allow the public in - shock horror

Still a lot to be decided but Harry W has given himself a pretty good chance of that final wildcard, even if he lose in the semis of the play-offs

He's chalked up some very good wins on grass so far, he's young, he's higher ranked that Patrick or Millen, say, he seems to be rataed quite well by the bods (and rightly so), given the various wildcards he's got ...

And the good news is that Harry W gets the nod

still 2 mens MD wildcards to be announced - surely they will use them with someone?

We've had years with four wildcards not used - there's no 'surely' about it

So are we back to one win away from a Top 500 place ?

I leave those calculations to the number-crankers on this board biggrin

But looking highly likely smile

Ok - maybe wrong choice of word. Hopefully theyll find someone to use them on. Giles or Dan little could hopefully go on a run this week, however unlikely

Cranking the numbers, yes to Harry getting into the top 500 with a win. But if and when he does I am not sure Giles will still be in there.

Giles is live 498 for Monday's rankings and then next week no points will come off anyone ( mid point Wimbledon last year ) with just points adding in for the 03/07 rankings. I think it is more than likely that Giles will need a qualifying win in Eastbourne next week to hold on to a top 500 place in the short term

It will become a bit clearer once we see next week's live rankings. Though with any Wimbledon qualifying points not adding in until the post Wimbledon 17/07 rankings it's going to be a wait to see how these rankings unfold whatever. Giles could fall out of the top 500 and then come back in post Wimbledon

Shorter version:  you need both Harry and Giles to win next week to be able to confidently prepare the champaign. Or another outsider to come whizzing through.

Far more likely they're waiting to see who wins Ilkley

Ofner's not in the main draw acceptance list, from what I can see (whereas Kubler is)

If Ofner wins, I think he'll get a wildcard

I can't see any british player getting one

Yes, I am afraid any further MD WCs will almost certainly be peskies  We've stretched the GB ones about as far as they are going to be stretched with George and Arthur.

I have a very, very slim hope for an added doubles pair - just possible Arthur and Felix, or Oliver and Henry i.e. a couple on their list of supported players
But that's a real outside chance
And no hope for singles at all
