Week 16 - ITF W25 - Nottingham, GB Hard

This may have already posted here/elsewhere but the Tennis in the UK podcast posted an interview with Katy yesterday where talks frankly about her injury issues over the last few years amongst other things: open.spotify.com/episode/4FVM9O38XEZjpo76ScN65d

Thanks for posting this. It's a great, if sad at times, listen. That she would not be playing here if it were not for her mum and Beth talking her out of quitting after her retirement in India earlier this year and that she had a cry at the beginning of the week as her shoulder is causing problems again and is unsure about her playing future perhaps explains why each match means so much to her.

She has the belief, I hope she finds the hope.

A shame Hannah couldn't get a ranking first time out but I suppose she won't have to wait long.

I actually listened to this and enjoyed it. Very frank and open. Hope she can stay fit although even this week, it seems she is having some shoulder issues in the early rounds at least

One standout for me is that Katy had to break down crying in front of Iain Bates before the LTA gave her medical support. It seems to me that the medical side should just be a given, wherever the coaching is happening, for players in whom the LTA has invested significant resources over time.

From what I gathered Katy no longer has that medical support. Only access to the courts for training. Looks like the help runs out.

Katy 0-4 down, Hartono is playing great but Katy appears much less intense than against Klugman; hoping that is not injury related. To be honest, after listening to the podcast, if she makes it through the match without retirement, that's a win.

No big surprise that Katy lost today - always going to be a big ask against WR226 at this stage of her comeback.

Such a shame when she was on such a good run this week.  Looks like that recurring shoulder injury.

I hope she didn't overdo it against Hannah just to injure herself again.
