Hannah Rylatt was a LL (and a WC into qualis in the first place, I think) but is now in the last 8, after beating Ellie B
An excellent level from Mimi, to beat Eva Shaw very easily - Mimi looking very keen to defend her title
How do they chose LL at nationals ? I know junior ITF format, and no offence to Hannah but Gabia 1st seed and lost in 3 or is it simply random out of hat?

Honestly, I don't know, but pretty sure it must be out of a hat

I think all lta tournaments like this one, and brit tour etc, it is out of a hat, all fqr losers with equal chance. Taking account of score in last quali round would make no sense at all as they all have different opponents. In extreme you could end up with a 0-6 0-6 loser getting back in, or even, as has been discussed on various pro tournament threads someone who retires in fqr then gets back in as ll (and can be fit to play the main draw round the next day or whenever it happens).
i dont know why she'd bother playing juniors shes 650 in the world at 17 and has been top 500 shes only gonna make a carrer in the womens side of it so she might as well just keep on giving it a go rather than focus on juniors when her ranking is virtually non existant

I would think all top juniors would be bothered with playing this for the Wimbledon qualifying WC on offer. Additionally, there is the further incentive for everyone else on getting any WC in the grass season.
"If a player is unable to play the National Junior Championships due to illness or injury, the player must produce suitable medical evidence supporting the decision to withdraw. Players that do not do this will not be eligible for any wildcards into the summer grass court events."
Actually, I've just heard from someone who knows Talia well who says she's terrible disappointed that she's had to withdraw, but she's got a painful heel injury. She picked it up last week in Tunisia, and it got a bit worse as she carried on with her matches, and the medical advice now is most definitely not to play on it, as she's make it a lot worse, but to go for 100% rest, ice etc.
So, I feel for her, it's sad she can't take part, but fingers crossed it's all fine in a few weeks, and the grass court season will still be all there to enjoy.
It looks like they are putting all 4 girls QFs on first at 10am
U18 QF
(1) Ella McDonald v Imogen Haddad
(4) Isabelle Lacy v (LL) Hannah Rylatt
Hannah Klugman v (3) Hephzibah Oluwadare
(WC) Mika Stojsavljevic v (2) Mimi Xu

Shame for Talia. I'm sure she would have liked to play as this is a competitive tournament and great incentives on offer. Heel injuries can be difficult to heal, so hope the rest does her good. Hopefully she'll get a couple of wild cards along the way in the summer.
