Week 7 - ITF W25 - Glasgow, UK (indoor hard)

Hoping that was the scare she needed, and might just dial in now knowing that the points for F and Winning are decent.

Well I thought Hev showed great fighting spirit and I'm delighted for her.. The WR 357 was playing well and with Heather's recent record being so poor it's not easy getting over the line. I hope this win helps her confidence and she goes on to win the title.

I certainly didn't see that coming. I don't see this as some great springboard, however. It's been too long now of the same thing. She needs to either commit to the next 2-5 years on tour with a new coach and set up - ideally with someone who can keep her mind focused on every point or, well, this.

I say this because she doesn't look happy out there, if I'm wrong and she is content with her career and traveling then fantastic, but if not, it's time for a real shake-up.

She gave a podcast interview to Abigail Johnson last year where she mentioned wanting to settle down and have children (although was a bit vague about exactly when), so maybe she isn't  completely focused on tennis matters.

I might be being unfair but to be honest, last couple of years I've had the impression that Heather has sort of accepted that she isn't a big, big player on tour and would just be happy as a top 100 regular, with the possibility of competing for a couple more 250 level titles. Of course even that is in danger unless she does something about her set up.

Yes I listened to the Abigail Johnson interview and the children bit was interesting. Shes had a few tennis and football boyfriends and Im sure that will happen soon enough although at the time of the interview she was single I believe. Always feel sorry for the women because once they hit their 30s thats a sacrifice that has to be made whereas the men dont have that issue.

What a brilliant tie-break from Ella and Maia

Wrapped that up very nicely and into the final......

It seems Em had a rather unpleasant experience on Easyjet leaving Glasgow.

Poor Em, that's horrendous and hopefully she does make an official complaint.

I hope she has a photo of the woman in question (and a full description)

And, yes, how absolutely horrbile, and unecessary, and just beyond nasty....

I agree totally with all of you. People like that should not be allowed to be in any position of power over others.

EasyJet has changed the size of bag you can take into a cabin without paying.  Everything has to go under the seats or you pay and I suppose tennis racquets dont go under seats.    It is now impossible to find a bag small enough with wheels.  I have to do a lot of travelling to help look after an elderly relation and grandchildren.  I find it painful to carry my work laptop the distance you have to walk for internal flights at Gatwick and dont want to risk my laptop in my hold luggage, so am now having to pay extra for a cabin bag.  Beware the change!

However, what a vile woman Emily came up against!

Would never touch Easyjet or RyanAir - terrible experiences every time I have used them. Jet2 show the way on how to deliver low cost travel and still deliver excellent efficiency, customer service and experience. Best low cost airline by a long, long way. And their holidays package company is now the biggest in the UK overtaking TUI - having used it last year and using it again this year, it was a marvellous experience. Sadly they dont do domestic flights, however, so wouldnt have helped Em...
