 Just to add- there are 3 teams in each group and as TA says the top team goes through to a last 6 play off. There are 6 groups in total, 2 in each venue. The winner of GBs group plays the winner of the other Sydney group in those last 6 play offs. The 3 city play off winners go to the semis. The team from the 3 city losers with the best overall record joins them in the last 4.

Yes, farcical, even by the tennis authorities' dubious history. Did it really really need 18 teams rather than 16? 

How to put people off with a complicated structure and mathematical exercises often needed to determine who advances. 

And once you come down to sets and games  ( more likely in groups of just 3 quite apart from the determination of the 4th semi finalist ) you really take away from the normal concept that tennis is about winning, not by how much you win and lose matches.

Yes, I do wonder why they choose to have 2 ties competing over 2 days rather than 1 full tie at each venue each day?? I see disadvantages but am struggling to see advantages.

It's not as if any singles players are having to play two singles matches.

So nice. Well done Cam. He was very complimentary about Tim in his on court interview, but personally I thought his egging on constantly was a bit much, especially in the sit-downs when Cam was doing so well anyway.

Hard to know how seriously players are taking this but a good win for Cam nonetheless
