#1 and #2 players get 40% of the participation fee regardless of if they play + 30% of the fee for each group stage singles match they play or 15% for each group stage mixed doubles (if not played singles). #3 and #4 players get 100% of the participation fee regardless of if they played.

It doesn't have to be 4 players, it can be 3. I guess in the case of Ranah, she's in Australia, she's not playing elsewhere, so why not name her on the squad so she gets some money?

It wouldn't surprise me if Jan, Ella and Ranah were offered some sort of sweetener (like a Wimbledon wildcard, although Jan probably would have got one anyway) for being on the team. I think it's safe to assume they went into the event knowing they would really just be practice partners.

 Its a shame this is taken back down to two singles and a mixed doubles - wasnt it 4 singles and all 3 formats of doubles last time? With a squad of 6, it feels a bit heavy for a 3 rubber match. Im sure some players wont actually play, eg Katie will get the singles outing over Fran and Maia , the doubles.

 Sorry it was 4 singles and a mixed doubles in 2023.

I think the 2nd singles player is there as a reserve in case of injury during the tournament. As I understand it, the rules for this revised format mandate the singles must be played by the #1 singles player.

And weve been drawn with USA and Australia in our 3 team group in Perth. USA have Fritz and Pegula entered, Australia have de Minaur and Tomljanovic and home support. Easily the most attractive group for the crowds and fans.

At this point if I didnt start my year with a @cam_norrie matchup it just wouldnt feel right

Just to say , the captains are announced and Colin Beecher is the GB captain. Wasnt it Tim last year?
