Challenge 2023

A few weeks in a boot and then have to learn to walk again.
It will be weird at first as there will be significant muscle loss in the injured leg.

Finally made it home. Going to take a while getting used to crutches. Not done that for a while. Consolation is that a trip across the park to throw the rubbish out is probably equivalent to a 30km bike ride in terms of energy expended.

Leg has been plastered but only down the front, to maintain the angle between the leg and the foot. The rest is just bandaging. Three to four weeks like this and then rehab, or so I've been told.

And should just say it's great to be able to read this forum on a big computer screen again rather than trying to navigate on an iPhone with dodgy Wifi. Thanks again for all the messages of support.

Thanks.  Maybe I've finally learned the lesson that I'm not 25 years old any more. disbelief

Been to the hospital today for a routine check up. Surgery wound healing well. All going to plan at the moment. Plan is that this time next week I get the staples out.

Finally got the plaster cast off today, 4 weeks to the day after the op. Still a lot of rehab to go but it feels such a relief to be moving forwards on the recovery.

Been back for another check up today and the surgeon is delighted with my progress. I seem to be ahead of schedule.

He has advised me to go out and buy a pair of running shoes with the air pocket and the raised heal. Then he wants me to get out and start walking - albeit aided at first. Physio will start next week.

Any recommendations ?
