English grass court winners not doing  well  at Wimbledon.  .Haddad and Van Uytvanck both lost which just leaves Eastbourne winner Petra Kvitova  yet to play in the draw. .

And Kvitova lost the opening set 6-2 as well just Now

Well Kvitova won in 3 sets and with Ostapenko winning, both Eastbourne  finalists made the 2nd round.

Harriet's match has been postponed until tomorrow. I half suspect they thought Centre would move quicker and they'd get it on there as an extra match.

Poor start from Katie. Missed break points and broken herself for 1-3*. Only the second time Burel has played on grass (Wimbledon qualifying last year was the first).

But she's got the break back now *2-3

Yeah that was a great effort to grab that first set despite not playing very well. Second set she looked quite a bit better, and Burel had flashes of great stuff but never really looked like turning it round.

Really pleased for her.

(And no Jeremy courtside, although I noticed he was there for Jodie and Sonay...)

It's like Eastbourne all over again as  Katie's  second round opponent is either Martincova or Pliskova both of whom she beat there.

Pliscova v Martincova is just about to start on No 1 court - at 9:10pm. If that goes to three sets they may run out of time tonight.

Congrats to Harmony Tan, have to say Im a little bit miew about Serena in general and Im not entirely sure why she came back. But it took guts for Tan to win and she will remember it for the rest of her life, Im sure.

Shame for Serena, I would like her to get that one last Slam but it's not going to happen. She cant come back with such little preparation, the game has moved on.
