RE: Girls: 2022 U18/U16 Junior National Championships, NTC, acrylic (Week 14)

was switching between the two semis,  But drawn to the Isabelle v Hannah match, great battle between the girls. Some very long rallies, very impressed with Hannahs defensive skills and for a girl just turned 13 shes Incredibly athletic and strong. Very exciting prospect . Looking forward to the final tomorrow to see if Hannah has worked her out her strategy to beat Mimi. Shes got a record of winning versus players she previously lost to with her almost chess  like approach to the game.

Good stuff. I'm taking Hannah for revenge.

Yep, I'm going for Hannah too.
As before, she's it a point to prove, something to play for.
Mimi has looked a tad flat this week, compared with last (although still playing very well, of course)

By the way, a question, please, for the rules guys:

I noticed in the U18s too and forgot to post, but I see that the juniors here are now playing lets on serves, like the adults.

A year or two ago, juniors had abandoned lets, hadn't they? And played the serve whatever.

What's the actual rule now? For ITFs? For domestic junior events?

Many thanks

The ITF juniors at Liverpool  were playing no let rules

Viktor and Henry have won through to the boys final, both in 2 sets.

Girls doubles was won by Mimi and Hep, well done to them; Mimi goes one better in the 16 doubles as opposed to 18's.

I have watched bits of quite a few junior ITFs and TE matches this year and they all used no let - just as well as the junior ITF rules clearly state "For all singles and doubles matches the No Let Rule shall be in effect."  The LTA do not have to use international rules, and clearly haven't for the nationals (don't know if that applies to all domestic junior tournaments)

Well, got the result wrong - but couldn't care - super match

Mimi really came out with a huge spring in her step - far more than in previous rounds - she wanted that title, that's for sure.

And Hannah made her work really hard for it - especially in the second set - so close - some amazing tennis.

Huge well done to both of them, and Mimi as champion (don't think she needs all the wildcard benes though )

Ditto - thanks David for posting the link and great match. It will be exciting watching these two develop over the next few years.

I do so hope so, for the next few years at least. And that at least one transitions really well into seniors in time. But still so early.
