Isabelle Lacy beat Ellie Blackford in 3sets in the 18's, Mimi beat Hannah in straight sets (CD, you must be proud of me now!!)

A Mimi versus Hannah rematch would be excellent

It would be pretty odd if Mimi was U18 champion but not U16.

Maybe- but Hep reached the u18 semis and lost in the u16 quarters so it happens.

Yes, but - as David says - it's a bit weird why she's playing here anywhere. And she doesn't seem quite so imperious on court. The motivation levels and general adrenalin must be way lower.

On balance, I'd go for Hannah to win in the re-match - it's her with a point to prove and last week as SO close

Im not sure if Mimi is playing the next Nottingham ITF. but it would be only human to have an eye on this week and next week and be partially wanting to be there.

She's playing the J2 in Aldershot week after next, so I would think after 2 long weeks she would take next week to rest. And with only 1 WC left to use, that will probably be saved for Ilkley.

Makes sense - didnt she get an extra WC for an ITF for winning the U18 title as well as one for Ilkley? Sorry I lose track of the process !?

Winning the 18U did give her a WC to one of the 25Ks in this swing as well as Ilkley, but she can't use both with only being allowed 3 WCs as a 14 year old and having used 2 so far. She has to choose one or the other.

By the way, a question, please, for the rules guys:

I noticed in the U18s too and forgot to post, but I see that the juniors here are now playing lets on serves, like the adults.

A year or two ago, juniors had abandoned lets, hadn't they? And played the serve whatever.

What's the actual rule now? For ITFs? For domestic junior events?

Many thanks

oh right - I sort of assumed those extra wild cards would be over and above but in fact she is still working to the initial cap imposed by the ITF.

Which is a pain - although probably fair from a welfare perspective, if that is why they are in place.

Shame she cant offset it for the future when she isnt capped, or sell it on to someone else to use in her place!!

Ellie put some nice tennis out there - first time I've properly seen her play - very athletic - she put up a good show

But Mimi won 6-2 6-4

Yeah shame she let that 4- 1 lead slip away in 2nd set. Another Friday, another final for Mimi !.
