Hannah Klugman

I watcher her Auray matches last and she's improved a lot, she has grown in the year so that's definitely helped her serving (some of them over 100mph), she already had good technique on her serve then but struggled to get it into the court. I also noticed that she's controlling points more with her forehand and has incorporated a slice. She can be really good player.

Jan 2022

Having made the semis last year (as 2-years too young), Hannah went on to make the final of Les Petits As this year but lost to Stusek in a reasonably one-sided match. 3-6 3-6

However, she is still one year younger than nearly all the other players and will be eligible next year too.

She had a great competition up to the final, comfortably beating some very competent players. And simply got rather out-played and out-foxed by a different style of game in the final.

And, Andy Murray lost when he made the final of Les Petits As, too - so no harm done

Wonder if Hannah still plays / practices at Chiswick ? ( kings ). I sometimes pass here on my bike ( Thameside } and there s often somebody belting the living daylights out of a ball, ha.
Amazing how hard a tennis ball is being struck when watching live compared to viewing on tv. Anyway good luck to Hannah for 2022.

I see that Hannah has already been promoted to the Mens and Womens Programme. Although it is for 14 year olds and over there is an exception in the 2022 selection criteria that 12 and 13 year olds who had reached the SF of a super category European tournament are eligible for the programme.

Interesting just read the LTA article. I assume we will see her in a Liverpool ITF Junior event later this month as I believe someone on here said that is after she turns 13.

She will have a wildcard if she wants one.

You know you stand out from the crowd a bit when, at age just turned 13, even The Times is reporting that you're about to play your first ever ITF juniors event

www.google.com/url%3A%2F%2Fwww.thetimes.co.uk%2Farticle%2Frussian-or-belarusian-winner-at-indian-wells-could-be-pr-disaster-for-tennis-chiefs-8zrzzbchf&usg=AOvVaw3S80Y-YZ8jPx3ubw6CPP-r

(it's behind a paywall but doesn't say much more than the basics - first time I've ever seen a 13 year-old get mainstream The Times coverage though)

Here's the text from Stuart Fraser's article

"Klugman, 13, is one to watch

Talking of young British prospects, the 13-year-old Hannah Klugman is set to make her ITF junior debut at a tournament in Loughborough next week. She is presently on the list of alternates but, as one of the countrys most promising young players, will surely receive a wild card if required.

Klugman, who was born and bred in Wimbledon, finished runner-up at the prestigious Les Petit As junior event in Tarbes, France, in January. She turned 13 last month, becoming eligible to step up to the ITF circuit."

And following on from above, Hannah won her very first ITF tournament, and a J3 to boot:

ITF J3 Loughborough

FINAL: Hannah def. Astrid Lee Yan Foon (FRA) 6-4 6-2

As DF has pointed out, bang on point, Hannah has hit the ground running, in terms of ranking - straight into the top 500, after the event above, now ranked 499 !

Moreover, she's the only 2009-born player in the top 1000

A stellar start

 Only player worldwide

Mind you, they've all only be eligible as of the date of their birthdays so far this year. So 2009-ers born in April, for instance, haven't been able to play ITF yet. So, to be fair, she's only up against 2009-ers born in Jan and Feb who have then played ITF.

Mind you, she's still going to be the top 2009-er at the end of the year, when all the rest are included.

My not very daring prediction.....
