As DF has pointed out, bang on point, Hannah has hit the ground running, in terms of ranking - straight into the top 500, after the event above, now ranked 499 !

Moreover, she's the only 2009-born player in the top 1000

A stellar start

Is that the only 2009 Brit or world wide - in the top 1000?

brit - thats good

world wide - thats impressive !

 Only player worldwide

Mind you, they've all only be eligible as of the date of their birthdays so far this year. So 2009-ers born in April, for instance, haven't been able to play ITF yet. So, to be fair, she's only up against 2009-ers born in Jan and Feb who have then played ITF.

Mind you, she's still going to be the top 2009-er at the end of the year, when all the rest are included.

My not very daring prediction.....

Are you sure it's not a bold prediction ? smile

And following on from above, Hannah won her very first ITF tournament, and a J3 to boot:

ITF J3 Loughborough

FINAL: Hannah def. Astrid Lee Yan Foon (FRA) 6-4 6-2

And in the follow-up tournament, a week later, she did exactly the same:

ITF J3 Loughborough

FINAL: Hannah K. def. Hep O. 6-1 6-3

At the age of 13, and playing in the 2022 U18 nationals, Hannah lost in the QF to Mimi Xu, who went on to take the title

In the U16 nationals, Hannah made the final but again came up against Mimi, where she lost 6-3 7-6(5)

As of 19/04/22, Hannah is the only 2009-born player in the top-1000 juniors.

She is currently ranked ITF JW 303 (but was 288 a couple of weeks ago)

In terms of 2008-born girls, there is only one player above her (an Indian girl, ranked 244, who has played NINE events, as opposed to Hannah's two)

There are ALWAYS prospects but its certainly hard not to get excited about this one. From the little I have read she seems to be nicely level headed with good people around her, it will be interesting to see if she can make a mark over the summer?

Clearly I'm super behind with following Hannah so I've been frantically doing my catch-up YouTube research this morning - a really impressive serve and FH already at such a young age, and overall plays with maturity beyond her years. Will be making sure I catch her girls' singles match at W.

 Is it online anywhere?

The BBC are showing all courts on their website. Just choose and click smile

I meant the Sky News interview.

I think Hannah is on RB4.

So glad I started this thread.... It's really one to watch....

In her first J2, little fave Hannah has made the final in the singles (and got knocked out in the semis for the doubles)

It's true she's already played J1s, and a JA, but no J2s

Which is no surprise really as she's only been actually allowed to play these events since February of this year.

It's an amazing start to her junior career.

She's the major underdog in the final, against Korneeva (2007), JWR 26, but good luck to Hannah

Hannah was of course our PoM in January and may well be a contender for Player of Season in a very open season, partic if she does well in the next month or two!

Although she lost the J2 final, in three sets, to the clear favourite, Hannah is now ranked JWR 149

Not only is she the top 2009-born player, but she is the only one in the top-500 at all.

I don't even know where the next one is - just a speck on the horizon.....

At the moment, Hannah is smashing it

Jan 2022

Having made the semis last year (as 2-years too young), Hannah went on to make the final of Les Petits As this year but lost to Stusek in a reasonably one-sided match. 3-6 3-6

However, she is still one year younger than nearly all the other players and will be eligible next year too.

She had a great competition up to the final, comfortably beating some very competent players. And simply got rather out-played and out-foxed by a different style of game in the final.

And, Andy Murray lost when he made the final of Les Petits As, too - so no harm done

Pretty amazing watching Stusek play the first round of a W60 yesterday. She lost 4-6 in the third (and was slightly lucky with her draw) but all the same ----

I think we'll be seeing Hannah, too, getting a couple of high profile wildcards for adult events next year

Hannah is playing the Tier 1 British Tour event this week, at Edgbaston

Presumably preparation for her Junior Orange Bowl efforts coming up .....
