Week 25 - Wimbledon - London (grass) - women's qualifying

I know it's maybe not the same, and maybe the women will really go south, but the excellent results in the men's (and the very close scores even in three who lost) are the reason (or one of them) that leaving the three spaces in the wildcard allocations here so annoys me.

We are very lucky to have a grand slam. Grass is a funny surface. Those wildcards should have been used (for Kylie, for Mimi Xu, for Emily App, for Freya, for some other country's youngster if need be). The experience and the possibility to rise to the occasion are part of what tennis is all about. And there's no excuse for not fostering it at quali level.

Tara underway. A break a piece.
Tara was down 15-40 in each of her first 3 service games, but came back in two of them to take the game.

4-3*

A DF hands the break back

And Tara sees 2 set points come and go in Zarazua's service game.

6-5*

Super! Recovered really well from the disappointments at *5-3 and 5-4*, good tiebreaker, solid second set. Nice serve to finish too.

I know it's Roehampton and the conditions are damp but goodness the courts are chewed to bits already.
